Microscope calibration using laser written fluorescence [PDF]
There is currently no widely adopted standard for the optical characterisation of fluorescence microscopes. We used laser written fluorescence to generate two- and three-dimensional patterns to deliver a quick and quantitative measure of imaging performance.

Simultaneous off-axis multiplexed holography and regular fluorescence microscopy of biological cells [PDF]
We present a new technique for obtaining simultaneous multimodal quantitative phase and fluorescence microscopy of biological cells, providing both quantitative phase imaging and molecular specificity using a single camera. Our system is based on an interferometric multiplexing module, externally positioned at the exit of an optical microscope.

Miniaturized integration of a fluorescence microscope [PDF]
The light microscope is traditionally an instrument of substantial size and expense. Its miniaturized integration would enable many new applications based on mass-producible, tiny microscopes.

Arrangement of a 4Pi microscope for reducing the confocal detection volume with two-photon excitation [PDF]
The main advantage of two-photon fluorescence confocal microscopy is the low absorption obtained with live tissues at the wavelengths of operation. However, the resolution of two-photon fluorescence confocal microscopes is lower than in the case of one-photon excitation.

Fluorescence microscopy is one of the workhorses of biomedical research and laboratory diagnosis; however, their cost, size, maintenance, and fragility has prevented their adoption in developing countries or low-resource settings.

Portable, battery-operated, low-cost, bright field and fluorescence microscope. [PDF]
This study describes the design and evaluation of a portable bright-field and fluorescence microscope that can be manufactured for $240 USD. The microscope uses a battery-operated LED-based flashlight as the light source and achieves a resolution of 0.8 ...

Intramolecular fluorescence correlation spectroscopy in a feedback tracking microscope [PDF]
We derive the statistics of the signals generated by shape fluctuations of large molecules studied by feedback tracking microscopy. We account for the influence of intramolecular dynamics on the response of the tracking system, and derive a general expression for the fluorescence autocorrelation function that applies when those dynamics are linear.

Possibilities of using a miniature fluorescence microscope [PDF]
The article discusses an approach to fluorescence microscopy using single-photon miniature fluorescence microscopes. The use of miniscopes allows you to expand the possibilities of their usage and solve many problems related to the need of fixing ...

Exploiting speckle correlations to improve the resolution of wide-field fluorescence microscopy [PDF]
Fluorescence microscopy is indispensable in nanoscience and biological sciences. The versatility of labeling target structures with fluorescent dyes permits to visualize structure and function at a subcellular resolution with a wide field of view. Due to the diffraction limit, conventional optical microscopes are limited to resolving structures larger ...

A dark-field microscope for background-free detection of resonance fluorescence from single semiconductor quantum dots operating in a set-and-forget mode [PDF]
Optically active quantum dots, for instance self-assembled InGaAs quantum dots, are potentially excellent single photon sources. The fidelity of the single photons is much improved using resonant rather than non-resonant excitation. With resonant excitation, the challenge is to distinguish between resonance fluorescence and scattered laser light.
