MicroAnalyzer: A Python Tool for Automated Bacterial Analysis with Fluorescence Microscopy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Fluorescence microscopy is a widely used method among cell biologists for studying the localization and co-localization of fluorescent protein. For microbial cell biologists, these studies often include tedious and time-consuming manual segmentation of bacteria and of the fluorescence clusters or working with multiple programs.

Fluorescence Microscopic Observations on the Dog Retina

open access: yesArchivum histologicum japonicum, 1968
The dog retina was investigated with the fluorescence microscopical method for catecholamines introduced by FALCK and his co-workers (1962).Dopamine was administered intravenously, intraventricularly and intravitreously. Both intravenous and intraventricular dopamine significantly increased the number of the fluorescent amacrine cells.

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

Electroluminescence from a polythiophene molecular wire suspended in a plasmonic scanning tunneling microscope junction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The electroluminescence of a polythiophene wire suspended between two metallic electrodes is probed using a scanning tunneling microscope. Under positive sample voltage, the spectral and voltage dependencies of the emitted light are consistent with the ...

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Enhancement of Fluorescent Labeling via a Composited Thin Film

open access: yesInternational Journal of Polymer Science, 2014
Fluorescent labeling is the prevailing imaging technique in cell biological research. When statistical investigations on a large number of cells are involved, experimental study is required for both low magnification to get a reliable statistical ...

Highly multiplexed digital PCR assay for simultaneous quantification of variant allele frequencies and copy number alterations of KRAS and GNAS in pancreatic cancer precursors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining melting curve analysis enhances the multiplexing capability of digital PCR. Here, we developed a 14‐plex assay to simultaneously measure single nucleotide mutations and amplifications of KRAS and GNAS, which are common driver genes in pancreatic cancer precursors. This assay accurately quantified variant allele frequencies in clinical samples
