Nuclear prothymosin α inhibits epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in lung cancer by increasing Smad7 acetylation and competing with Smad2 for binding to SNAI1, TWIST1, and ZEB1 promoters. In early‐stage cancer, ProT suppresses TGF‐β‐induced EMT, while its loss in the nucleus in late‐stage cancer leads to enhanced EMT and poor prognosis.

Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular

Investigations of RhB18 Langmuir monolayer by Fluorescence Imaging Microscopy [PDF]
This communication reports the surface pressure vs. area per molecule isotherm and Fluorescence Imaging Microscopic studies of the formation of domain structure in the mixed Langmuir monolayer of RhB and Stearic acid (SA) at the air water interface. Strong repulsive interaction between the unlike components leads to the phase separation and formation ...

Improved direct-count method by fluorescence microscope for low-biomass ice core
Ice cores recovered from ice sheets contain microorganisms that were transported to the surface of the ice sheet along with airborne dust. The abundance of microorganisms in ice cores, as measured by direct cell count under a fluorescence microscope, is ...

Continuous volumetric imaging via an optical phase-locked ultrasound lens
In vivo imaging at high spatiotemporal resolution is key to the understanding of complex biological systems. We integrated an optical phase-locked ultrasound lens into a two-photon fluorescence microscope and achieved microsecond-scale axial scanning ...

T2DM is characterized by peripheral blood insulin resistance and progressive pancreatic β‐cell dysfunction. Here, we showed that AQP7, the only aquaglyceroporin protein, regulates autophagy and apoptosis in pancreatic β‐cells. We propose the existence of a positive feedback loop between MAPK signaling and AQP7 that regulates autophagy and apoptosis in ...

Revealing Microscopic Objects in Fluorescence Live Imaging by Video-to-video Translation Based on A Spatial-temporal Generative Adversarial Network [PDF]
In spite of being a valuable tool to simultaneously visualize multiple types of subcellular structures using spectrally distinct fluorescent labels, a standard fluoresce microscope is only able to identify a few microscopic objects; such a limit is largely imposed by the number of fluorescent labels available to the sample.

We introduce an immunohistochemistry method to measure autophagy flux, highlighting the active degradation and recycling of cellular waste. This cost‐effective approach uses tissue samples to track key markers like LC3 and SQSTM1, revealing how cells maintain health or respond to diseases such as cancer. It bridges the gap between research and clinical
