Cyanide and chloroform detection through J-aggregates based aggregation induced emission probe with real sample applications

open access: yesJournal of Hazardous Materials Letters
Isopthalamide based probe DPI has been synthesized by an easy two-step substitution reaction. Unique fluorescence properties of probe DPI were exploited for sensing of CNˉ and chloroform.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Advancing Three-Photon-Excited Rydberg RF Sensing: Fluorescence Readout for Wide-Dynamic-Range Characterization and Spatial Resolution Beyond Transmission

open access: yesSensors
We theoretically and experimentally investigated the fluorescence and transmission readouts of radio-frequency (RF) electrometry based on three-photon-excited Rydberg atoms.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

A Green-emitting Fluorescent Probe Based on a Benzothiazole Derivative for Imaging Biothiols in Living Cells

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
A new green-emitting fluorescent probe 1 was developed for biothiol detection. The sensing mechanism was considered to be biothiol-induced cleavage of the 2,4-dinitrobenzene- sulfonate group in probe 1 and resulting inhibition of the probe’s ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Spectra analysis and live-neuron imaging of cyclic AMP binding domain fusing circularly permutated GFP: Data for violet light excitable cyclic AMP indicator

open access: yesData in Brief, 2022
Cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cyclic AMP) is a second messenger, which is involved in the regulation of various cellular processes, including neuronal firing rate, synaptic plasticity, axon formation and axon elongation in brain.

Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the
