Establishing a Model Precursor System: Over a Decade of Research on Carbon Dots from the Citric Acid‐Urea System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The citric acid/urea (CA‐Urea) precursor system offers a versatile, scalable route to carbon dots with tunable luminescence and multifunctionality. Mechanistic insights into precursor chemistry and reaction parameters have enabled doping, surface modification, and hybridization strategies, yielding CDs for luminescent devices, sensing, catalysis ...

Pulse-shaping-based two-photon FRET microscopy

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
We present quantitative pulse-shaping-based two-photon fluorescence resonance energy transfer microscopy. We tailor the spectral phase of the excitation pulses to achieve selective excitation of donor and acceptor, demonstrating the method in live cells.

Fluorescence resonance energy transfer between organic dyes adsorbed onto nano-clay and Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films

open access: yes, 2010
In this communication we investigate two dyes N,N' -dioctadecyl thiacyanine perchlorate (NK) and octadecyl rhodamine B chloride (RhB) in Langmuir and Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films with or with out a synthetic clay laponite.

Nanodiamond Quantum Sensors for Probing Free Radical Biology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Free radicals play key roles in cellular signaling and disease but remain difficult to measure in living systems. Nanodiamonds (NDs) with nitrogen‐vacancy (NV) centers enable quantum sensing of local magnetic noise via T₁ relaxometry, providing nondestructive radical detection in living cells.

Fluorescence resonance energy transfer imaging via fluorescence polarization measurement

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Optics, 2006
Fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) has become a widely used spectroscopic tool for detecting molecular interactions and molecular proximity in solution, as well as in membranes. On the other hand, fluorescence polarization (FP) is a convenient measure: ratiometric and simple to execute.

Bioactive Conductive Ti3C2Tx‐Ce Hydrogel Facilitates Spinal Cord Injury Repair Through ROS Scavenging and Mitochondrial Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bioactive conductive Ti3C2Tx‐Ce hydrogels with with scavenging ROS and alleviating neuronal mitochondrial dysfunction are exploited for SCI treatment. This functionality is attributed to interfacial activation modification of Ti3C2Tx with Ce3+ ions to in‐situ form Ce(OH)x‐mediated protective layer, which is beneficial to enabling stable intracellular ...

Clear evidence of fluorescence resonance energy transfer in gas-phase ions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) is a distance-sensitive method that correlates changes in fluorescence intensity with conformational changes, for example, of biomolecules in the cellular environment.

Sensitized Triplet Exciton Generation in Nanostructured Polymer Scintillators: Toward Improved γ/Neutron Discrimination

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Rapid γ/neutron discrimination through PSD is achieved in liquid droplet containing nanostructured polymeric scintillator where a TTA‐active dye is dissolved. The inclusion of a properly selected and dosed sensitizer metalated porphyrin enhances discrimination sensitivity and speed by doubling the density of annihilating triplets and increasing the ...

Fluorescence Detection of 4-Hydroxy-2,5-dimethyl-3(2H)-furanone Based on Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer and Competitive Host–Guest Recognition

open access: yesChemosensors
Sweetening compounds are commonly incorporated into food products to enhance their texture and flavor, thereby indicating product quality. 4-Hydroxy-2,5-dimethyl-3(2H)-furanone (HDMF) is a sweet aromatic compound characterized by its pineapple-like ...
