Influence of pH on fluorescent dissolved organic matter photo-degradation [PDF]
A novel semi-continuous excitation emission matrix (EEM) fluorescence and absorbance monitoring system has been developed. Full EEMs were collected simultaneously with absorbance spectra every 20 min during 24 h solar-simulated irradiation experiments, and the kinetic change of fluorescence of Suwannee River natural organic matter IHSS standard ...

Fluorescence Approach for the Determination of Fluorescent Dissolved Organic Matter
Analytical Chemistry, 2017Excitation-emission matrix (EEM) fluorescence spectroscopy coupled with parallel factor (PARAFAC) analysis has been widely applied to characterize dissolved organic matter (DOM) in aquatic and terrestrial systems. However, its application in environmental samples is limited because PARAFAC is not able to handle nontrilinear EEM data, leading to the ...

Temperature Dependence of Dissolved Organic Matter Fluorescence
Environmental Science & Technology, 2018The temperature dependence of organic matter fluorescence apparent quantum yields (Φf) was measured for a diverse set of organic matter isolates (i.e., marine aquatic, microbial aquatic, terrestrial aquatic, and soil) in aqueous solution and for whole water samples to determine apparent activation energies ( Ea) for radiationless decay processes of the

The fluorescence of dissolved organic matter in seawater
Marine Chemistry, 1992A total of 28 vertical profiles of seawater fluorescence was measured in the Sargasso Sea, the Straits of Florida, the Southern California Borderlands, and the central Pacific Ocean. In all cases, surface seawater fluorescence was low as a result of photochemical bleaching which occurs on the timescale of hours.
