Persistence of Fluoroacetate and Fluoroacetamide in Soil
Nature, 1966LABORATORY tests have shown that sodium fluoroacetate1,2 and fluoroacetamide3,4 can act as systemic insecticides, and the latter compound has been tested or used in the field for pest control (mainly against aphids) in several countries5–7. In Britain, however, following the Smarden incident, the use of these compounds as rodenticides has been severely

Food and Chemical Toxicology, 1984
The toxicity of guar gum, derived from the Indian leguminous plant Cyamopsis tetragonolobus, is thought to be due to a globulin which can be denaturated and made non-toxic. Another very toxic compound, fluoroacetic acid, has been detected at a low level in raw samples of guar gum (0.07-1.42 micrograms fluoroacetic acid/g).

A Convenient Synthesis of Ethyl (Diethoxyphosphoryl) fluoroacetate from Ethyl Fluoroacetate
Synthesis, 1989A new synthesis of ethyl (diethoxyphosphoryl) fluoroacetate starting from ethyl fluoroacetate is described for a mole scale. This synthesis does not require the use of special equipment for fluorine chemistry since no hydrogen fluoride is ...

Fluoroacetate and fluorocitrate: Mechanism of action
Neurochemical Research, 1991The concept of lethal synthesis as suggested by Peters is reviewed in the light of the more recent work in this area. It is suggested that fluorocitrate is a "suicide" substrate for aconitase rather than a competitive inhibitor as originally suggested. The use of these substances to study glial-neuronal relationships is considered.

Inhibition of nitrogen fixation by fluoroacetate
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1962Abstract The reactions involved in the activation and reduction of molecular nitrogen to ammonia by nitrogen fixing bacteria are probably coupled to known reactions of the cell for energy, and for a source of coenzymes and intermediate compounds. The dependence of nitrogen fixation by cell free extracts of Clostridium on metabolism of pyruvate ...

Abstract Fluoroacetic acid (FA), available as sodium monofluoroacetate (SMFA), is one of the most potent rodenticides; its use is restricted to experienced pest-control operators because of its high toxicity for all mammals. More than 17 fatalities have been reported with SMFA (17).
