Dynamic coronal plane knee alignment: Femoral anatomy determines kinematic curve morphology, tibial anatomy determines curve position

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose A single hip–knee–ankle angle (HKA) angle does not reflect the biomechanics of native, arthritic or prosthetic knees. Since HKA varies throughout flexion, dynamic coronal alignment is best represented by a kinematic curve plotting HKA against the range of motion.

Biplane Fluoroscopy for Hindfoot Motion Analysis during Gait: A Model-based Evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The purpose of this study was to quantify the accuracy and precision of a biplane fluoroscopy system for model-based tracking of in vivo hindfoot motion during over-ground gait.

Similar dynamic tibiofemoral movements during jump‐landing and walking but distinct hamstrings strength across ACL reconstruction autograft types at mid‐term follow‐up

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Dynamic tibiofemoral movements following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) with quadriceps tendon (QT) autografts have not yet been compared to other autografts. We aimed to compare dynamic anterior tibial translation (ATTd) and internal tibial rotation (ITRd) during jump‐landing and walking among patients with QT, bone ...

CLASS‐MRI validates patient‐specific ACL footprints across variable fluoroscopic C‐arm positioning: A cadaveric study

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The aim of this study was (1) to investigate the accuracy of identifying the femoral and tibial anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) footprints (FPs) using the Compressed Lateral and Anteroposterior Anatomical Systematic Sequences (CLASS) method compared to the to the gold standard (anatomical dissection with direct FP marking, referred to

Targeting ligament boundaries rather than alignment boundaries in augmented‐reality‐assisted total knee arthroplasty ensures comparable gait patterns between operated and contralateral limbs

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Modern personalised total knee arthroplasty (TKA) techniques aim to mimic natural knee kinematics by focusing on soft‐tissue dynamics rather than static alignment. However, a consistent definition of the optimal ligamentous balance has not yet been established.

Intraoperative Fluoroscopic Verification of Satisfactory Foraminotomy in Posterior Open Decompression Surgery for Lumbar Foraminal Stenosis: A Clinical Image

open access: yesClinical Case Reports
Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) represents an increasingly encountered disorder in current clinical practice, being unfavorably associated with chronic low back pain, progressive neurologic decline and disability. LSS represents the major etiology for spine
