Nonlinear Flutter Analysis of Labyrinth Seals
Journal of Turbomachinery, 2022Abstract A simple nonlinear model to describe labyrinth seal flutter has been developed to assess the aeromechanic stability of straight-through labyrinth seals subjected to large gap variations. The model solves the one-dimensional integral mass, momentum, and energy equations of the seal for a prescribed motion numerically until a ...

An analysis of unsteady airfoil stall and stall flutter is presented that is based on a series of approximations. Unsteady aerodynamic characteristics are related theoretically to static aerodynamic characteristics. Preliminary results show good agreement with experimental dynamic stall data.

Coupled mode flutter analysis using flutter derivatives
Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, 1992Abstract The “classical” coupled bending-torsion flutter of long-span bridges, possessing 3-dimensional vibration modes, is investigated both analytically and experimentally. In the analysis, self-excited forces are defined by using the so-called flutter derivatives.

Wavelet Approach to Flutter Data Analysis
Journal of Aircraft, 2002A wavelet-based method is presented to analyze flight flutter test data. The procedure utilizes the filter action of the continuous wavelet transform to enable damping estimation. An indication of the overall stability is obtained from changes in the shape of the wavelet transform amplitude cross sections.
