Resolution of Levodopa/Dopa‐Decarboxylase Inhibitor—Associated Microscopic Colitis with Subcutaneous Foslevodopa/Foscarbidopa: A Case Series and Review of the Literature

open access: yesMovement Disorders Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Microscopic colitis (MC) typically presents with chronic, non‐bloody watery diarrhea. Diagnosis requires endoscopy with colonic mucosal biopsies. The etiology is multifactorial, with several medications implicated, although only a few cases have been attributed to oral levodopa/dopa‐decarboxylase inhibitor (LDDCI) therapy.

Mechanisms of atrial flutter following epicardial high intensity focused ultrasound left atrial ablative procedures during concomitant cardiac surgery

open access: yesThe Egyptian Heart Journal, 2014
Introduction: Iatrogenic atrial tachyarrhythmias have increased with the widespread application of left atrial ablative procedures to treat atrial fibrillation. Methods and results: Entrainment and activation mapping were utilized to study the mechanisms

How to facilitate ultrasound examination of the fetal heart: the 5‐4‐3‐2‐1 method

open access: yesUltrasound in Obstetrics &Gynecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We propose a new standardized, systematic method of fetal cardiac screening, the step‐by‐step ‘5‐4‐3‐2‐1’ method. This method is based on understanding the cardiac structures through a process of navigating between the different recommended views during an abdominothoracic sweep, following a user‐friendly checklist to identify the main ...

Characteristics of isolated atrial flutter versus atrial flutter combined with atrial fibrillation

open access: yesArchives of Cardiovascular Diseases, 2011
Atrial flutter (AFL) and atrial fibrillation (AF) are "fellow-travellers". AF may be a stable, "isolated" rhythm, a bridge between sinus rhythm and AF, or both arrhythmias can coexist. Whether the characteristics of isolated AFL are different from those of patients with AFL combined with AF is still unclear. To compare the clinical characteristics of ...

ECG‐TransCovNet: A hybrid transformer model for accurate arrhythmia detection using Electrocardiogram signals

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Abnormalities in the heart's rhythm, known as arrhythmias, pose a significant threat to global health, often leading to severe cardiac conditions and sudden cardiac deaths. Therefore, early and accurate detection of arrhythmias is crucial for timely intervention and potentially life‐saving treatment.

A novel approach to terminate roof-dependent atrial flutter with epicardial conduction through septopulmonary bundle

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders
Atrial flutter, a prevalent cardiac arrhythmia, is primarily characterized by reentrant circuits in the right atrium. However, atypical forms of atrial flutter present distinct challenges in terms of diagnosis and treatment.

Atrial flutter ablation in a case of diuretic resistant constrictive pericarditis

open access: yesIndian Heart Journal, 2015
We present a 66 year old gentleman with constrictive pericarditis and persistent atrial flutter. Initial management with oral loop diuretics was successful until he developed persistent atrial flutter.

A review of the relationship between dimensions of alcohol consumption and the burden of disease: 2026 update including Mendelian randomisation studies

open access: yesAddiction, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and aims Evidence on the causal impact and corresponding risk relationships between dimensions of alcohol consumption and health outcomes continues to evolve, with some contradictory findings across study designs. This review aimed to update current knowledge on causality and risk relationships to inform global and national ...

Catheter ablation of typical right atrial flutter in a 20‐day‐old neonate with tachycardiomyopathy

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia
Background Fetal echocardiography can diagnose neonatal atrial flutter, which can cause heart failure in newborns. Little is known about catheter ablation in this population.

A new animal model of atrial flutter

open access: yes, 1986
A new, simple and reliable model of atrial flutter utilizing postpericardiotomy pericarditis was developed in the dog. Using a sterile technique, the pericardium was opened by way of a right thoracotomy, Teflon-coated, stainless steel wire electrodes ...
