The Mystery of Baselevel Controls in the Incision History of the Central Colorado Plateau

open access: yesAGU Advances
Erosion can remain active and changing in landscapes long after tectonic drivers have ceased, potentially due to local‐geologic controls, climate changes, or geodynamics. We present new fluvial incision‐rate histories and terrain analyses of the Colorado

Pleistocene geochronologies for fluvial sedimentary sequences: an archaeologist's perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Current models of Pleistocene fluvial system development and dynamics are assessed from the perspective of European Lower and Middle Palaeolithic stone tool assemblages recovered from fluvial secondary contexts. Fluvial activity is reviewed both in terms

Investigation of formation mechanism of tufa deposits by chemical breakdown of legacy paper mill sludge

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 1, February 2026.
This study reveals that legacy paper mill sludge can generate tufa deposits through calcium leaching and atmospheric CO2 interaction, acting as a carbon sink. The findings highlight its potential for low‐cost carbon sequestration and sustainable waste management.

Distribution of Orthoptera across the river valley (Kaluga-Aleksin canyon, European Russia) and their dynamics under the overgrowing of meadows

open access: yesNature Conservation Research: Заповедная наука
Orthoptera insects (hereinafter – orthopterans) play a key role in grassland ecosystems and are often used as indicators of their condition. To conserve these insects and to model their habitat preferences, we need to know patterns of their distribution ...

Late Quaternary fluvial terrace characteristics and ages of the Pamir‒Tian Shan convergence zone: indications of regional climate change and tectonic uplift

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
The Pamir‒Tian Shan collision zone, located at the northwestern edge of the Himalaya‒Qingzang orogenic belt, provides a natural laboratory for investigating the development of fluvial terraces controlled by regional climate change and tectonic uplift. In

Morphometric analysis of urban fluvial terraces using UAV LiDAR: A case study from the Santa Catarina River, Mexico [PDF]

open access: yesISPRS Annals of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences
This study analyzes the geomorphological evolution of fluvial terraces along the urban section of the Santa Catarina River (Nuevo León, México) by integrating high-resolution UAV-based LiDAR and photogrammetry.

Palaeoglacier reconstruction and dynamics of Cordillera Vilcanota in the tropical high Peruvian Andes

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 2, February 2026.
We provide a geomorphological analysis of Cordillera Vilcanota and use morphostratigraphic principles to reconstruct palaeo icefield extent and palaeoglacier readvances, likely during the Antarctic Cold Reversal and Younger Dryas. We find evidence of temperate and polythermal ice margins, with limited glaciofluvial landform generation.

Anastomosis and Low Flows Sustain Resilient Groundwater Dependent Riparian Floodplains in an Agricultural River Valley, New Mexico

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 2, February 2026.
Groundwater‐dependent native riparian ecosystems of the Gila River floodplain (a) near the upstream end of the valley in winter 2014 and (b) near the downstream valley end in summer 2018. Topographically complex floodplains create favourable conditions across the full breadth of the valley bottom for a diversity of native groundwater‐dependent ...

Optical dating and sedimentary record from the terrace depositional profile of the Warta River (Central Poland) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Results of OSL dating and sedimentary studies from the profile of the low alluvial terrace of the middle Warta River are presented. The samples were dated using the single-aliquot regenera-tive method.
