Stratigraphy of Fluvial Terraces in the North Uonuma Hill, Niigata Prefecture
現在, われわれは2004年新潟県中越地震震源地付近の第四紀後期の地殻変動について検討を進めている. 本稿では, 魚沼丘陵北部に分布する河成段丘層序の調査結果を速報し, さらに, 魚沼丘陵東縁の六日町盆地西縁断層の活動性に触れる. 調査地域に分布する河成段丘は, 空中写真判読調査により, 高位より, Hf, Mf, Lf面に区分される. さらに, Hf面はHf 1~3面に, Lf面は, Lf1~4面に細分される. 続いて, 火山灰層序に基づいてこれらの編年を行った. Hf 3面は海洋酸素同位体ステージ (MIS) 6よりも古く, MIS 8に対比される可能性がある. Mf面はMIS 6に対比される可能性が高い.

INCEPTIVE TOPOGRAPHY OF FLUVIAL-DOMINATED RIVER MOUTH TERRACES: EXPERIMENTS
河川流が卓越する河口部を対象に模型実験を行い, 河口噴流における流速および浮遊砂濃度の分布構造, 掃流砂および浮遊砂による河口テラスの初期形成機構を明らかにした. また著者らの一部が提案した理論の妥当性を検証した結果, 理論と実験結果には良好な一致が認められ, 浮遊砂が支配的な場合, 噴流軸の両側に堆積が生じることが実験によっても示された. さらに河口テラスからデルタへの発達過程に関する実験を行い, 浮遊砂が支配的な場合, 掃流砂が支配的な場合とは明らかに異なる, 鳥趾状デルタに近い堆積形状へと発達することが示された.
