Winegrowers' Perceptions and Adoption of Sustainable Soil Management Practices and Technologies: A Case Study in Piedmont, Italy

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, Volume 37, Issue 13, Page 9236-9253, 15 August 2026.
ABSTRACT Soil is crucial for human survival but is threatened by erosion and contamination. Farmers play a pivotal role in soil conservation, thus, understanding what influences their decisions is crucial. The IN‐GEST SOIL project aimed to mitigate soil erosion and improve soil and vine quality in Piedmont vineyards, NW Italy.

Estrone Degradation in Soil as Affected by Three Soil Groups

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Estrone (E1) is a female hormone present in large quantities in animal farming, which has, in recent decades, resulted in increasing water and soil pollution. Research into its behaviour in the environment has been more focused on water pollution than on

Full‐pattern fitting of X‐ray powder diffraction data to determine allophane and organic matter contents in soils

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, Volume 90, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
Abstract Full‐pattern fitting of X‐ray powder diffraction (XRPD) data using reference materials has attracted increasing attention as a high‐throughput method to determine the contents of long‐range‐ordered (i.e., crystalline) materials in soils. We hypothesized that this XRPD method can also be used to quantify short‐range‐ordered (SRO) materials with

Soil Diversity and Climate: An Overview of Profile Data and Acquisition With the WoSIS Global Legacy Dataset

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Soil Science, Volume 77, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
ABSTRACT Soil profiles are the primary field evidence from which pedogenesis, soil classification and land‐use effects are interpreted, yet their availability remains uneven across climates and land‐cover contexts. Here, we analyse the World Soil Information Service (WoSIS) 2023 snapshot together with Copernicus Global Land Cover 2015 and the global ...

A Soil Profile Dataset From Central Ethiopia: Morphological, Physical and Chemical Properties, WRB Classification, and Root Count

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Soil Science, Volume 77, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
ABSTRACT Comprehensive soil profile datasets are essential for understanding and modelling soil and soil processes, yet remain scarce in Sub‐Saharan Africa. This is particularly true for full soil profiles combining root observations with soil water retention characteristics.

Simulated CO2 Fertilization Drives Progressive Phosphorus Limitation via Accelerated Organic Cycling in Amazonian Forests

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 32, Issue 7, July 2026.
Rising atmospheric CO2 increases phosphorus demand in Amazon forests. Using a microbial‐explicit land model in low and high phosphorus Amazonian forest sites, we show that low‐phosphorus forests increasingly rely on organic phosphorus cycling to sustain productivity.

Effect of long-term fertilizer application in maize crop growing on chemical element leaching in Fluvisol [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The study characterized the regime of nutrient leaching under different nitrogen and phosphorus supply of irrigated maize grown as monoculture on Fluvisol for the period 1999-2008 and additionally studied in the years 2009, 2010, and 2011. The aim of the

Soils and vegetation of the permafrost floodplain of the small river Tenyakha (Messoyakha basin, Western Siberia)

open access: yesActa Biologica Sibirica
The soils and vegetation of Arctic floodplains are vulnerable to global warming because, in addition to climate change, they are affected by the changing hydrological regime of rivers.
