Probability flux as a method for detecting scaling
We introduce a new method for detecting scaling in time series. The method uses the properties of the probability flux for stochastic self-affine processes and is called the probability flux analysis (PFA).

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Method of producing a plug-type heat flux gauge [PDF]
A method of making a plug-type heat flux gauge in a material specimen in which a thermoplug is integrally formed in the specimen is disclosed. The thermoplug and concentric annulus are formed in the material specimen by electrical discharge machining and

We present the concept of fiber-flux density for locally quantifying white matter (WM) fiber bundles. By combining scalar diffusivity measures (e.g., fractional anisotropy) with fiber-flux measurements, we define new local descriptors called Fiber-Flux ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Implicit Active Flux Methods for Linear Advection
In this work we develop implicit Active Flux schemes for the scalar advection equation. At every cell interface we approximate the solution by a polynomial in time. This allows to evolve the point values using characteristics and to update the cell averages using fluxes obtained by integrating this polynomial.

In this paper we study the Ostrovsky-Hunter equation for the case where the flux function $f(x, u)$ may depend on the spatial variable with certain smoothness.

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

AbstractIn this article, we present a flux‐based formulation of the hybridizable discontinuous Galerkin (HDG) method for steady‐state diffusion problems and propose a new method derived by letting a stabilization parameter tend to infinity. Assuming an inf‐sup condition, we prove its well‐posedness and error estimates of optimal order. We show that the
