Flux-Regulation Theories and Principles of Hybrid-Excited Flux-Switching Machines
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2015A hybrid-excited flux-switching (HEFS) machine was proposed by reducing the permanent-magnet (PM) length of an original flux-switching PM machine and introducing a set of field windings into the saved space. According to the PM locations, three typical topologies of HEFS machines emerged, namely, PM-Top, PM-Bottom, and PM-Middle, respectively.

Flux-Switching Motors for Automotive Applications
IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2004This paper presents a new class of brushless motor as an alternative to the permanent magnet brushed motor used in the automotive industry. The new flux switching motor is a very simple motor to manufacture and coupled with a power electronic controller requiring only two power semiconductor switches it has the potential to be extremely low cost in ...

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2015
Memory motors [1] [2] equipped with either single low-coercive force (LCF) or hybrid magnets have been extensively investigated due to the elimination of the associated excitation loss during the flux adjustment. Thus, they enable high efficiency operation within a wide range of speeds and loads.

Comparison of the acoustic noise of a flux switching and a switched reluctance drive
Conference Record of the 2001 IEEE Industry Applications Conference. 36th IAS Annual Meeting (Cat. No.01CH37248), 2002This paper describes the results of a comparison between the acoustic noise produced by a two-phase switched reluctance drive and a flux switching motor and drive. For the comparison, two external rotor machines were constructed from identical mechanical parts, and the same lamination stacks.

A thermally switched flux pump
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1975This paper describes a superconducting power supply (flux pump) of the transformer rectifier type in which the rectification is produced by thermal switching. The supply is intended for use with a superconducting magnet. At an operating current of 1000A the pump can charge a magnet at about 20 W with an efficiency greater than 93%.

Performance improvement in Flux-Switching PM machines using flux diverters
2012 IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics, Drives and Energy Systems (PEDES), 2012Several schemes for mechanical (as against electrical) flux weakening in permanent-magnet (PM) machines have been proposed in recent literature. Although the detailed arrangements differ depending upon whether the magnets are mounted on the rotor or the stator, the principle remains broadly the same. A movable piece of magnetic steel is used to “short”

A Novel Fault Tolerant Flux Switching Memory Machine with Highly Flux-Controllability
IECON 2021 – 47th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2021This paper proposes a novel flux switching memory machine (FSMM) in which low coercive force (LCF) magnets are alternatively arranged between adjacent U-shape stator cores. The proposed machine exhibits superiority in flexible online flux regulation capability, large flux regulation range, robust structure and inherent advantage for avoiding ...

Flux-Weakening Capability of Flux-Switching Permanent Magnet Motor
2010 International Conference on E-Product E-Service and E-Entertainment, 2010A 12/10 flux-switching permanent magnet motor (FSPM) is described. Qualitative analysis of magnetic circuit indicates that a connection between stator segments is benefit to motor operation. From the basic principle of flux-weakening speed-extension operation, weaken magnetic factor and speed-extension multiple are calculated. The analysis results show

Flux-regulation capability of hybrid-excited flux-switching machines
2012 XXth International Conference on Electrical Machines, 2012In this paper, the flux-regulation capability of a 12-stator-slot/10-rotor-pole hybrid excitation flux-switching (HEFS) machine with three types of magnet materials, namely Ferrite, SmCo and NdFeB, are evaluated based on finite element analysis. Due to the unique constrained dimensions between the magnets and field windings slots as well as the ...

Axial flux segmental rotor flux-switching synchronous motor
2015 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2015A novel three-phase, concentrated winding, axial flux, segmental rotor, flux-switching synchronous motor is presented. The proposed topology has rotor segments made of only iron laminations and operates with flux-switching principle. Compared to existing axial flux permanent magnet (AFPM) topologies, the proposed machine contains reduced amount of ...
