Flux Weakening Strategy Optimization for Five-Phase PM Machine with Concentrated Windings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The paper applies an Efficient Global Optimization method (EGO) to improve the efficiency, in flux weakening region, of a given 5-phase Permanent Magnet (PM) machine. An optimal control for the four independent currents is thus defined.

Lessons Learned From a Delayed‐Start Trial of Modafinil for Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Freezing of gait (FOG) in people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD) is debilitating and has limited treatments. Modafinil modulates beta/gamma band activity in the pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN), like PPN deep brain stimulation. We therefore tested the hypothesis that Modafinil would improve FOG in PwPD.

High Speed PMSM Anti-saturation Regulation Method Based on Hybrid Flux Weakening Technology [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
For traditional permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) flux weakening method, it is easy to cause voltage command saturation and the system lose control.

High speed operation design considerations for fractional slot axial flux PMSM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper discusses intensively the design considerations for the fractional slot axial flux permanent magnet synchronous (AFPMSMs) in order to work efficiently in the constant power speed range, also known as the field weakening (FW) region.

Post-processing-based Flux-weakening Control of Variable Flux Reluctance Machines

open access: yes2024 IEEE 21st Biennial Conference on Electromagnetic Field Computation (CEFC)
This paper introduces a novel post-processing-based flux-weakening control method for variable flux reluctance machines. The proposed method achieves high-efficiency operation at elevated speeds by determining the optimal values for both ac- and de-field currents together with the commutation angle.

Advancing Age Modulates Associations Between Cognitive Impairment and Brain Volumes in Early MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Cognitive impairment is common in multiple sclerosis (MS), but manifestations following the first demyelinating event are relatively unexplored. We investigated cross‐sectional associations between magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)–derived brain volumes and the presence of cognitive impairment outcomes five years after the first ...

Performance comparison between Surface Mounted and Interior PM motor drives for Electric Vehicle application [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Electric Vehicles make use of permanent magnet synchronous traction motors for their high torque density and efficiency. A comparison between interior permanent magnet (IPM) and surface mounted permanent magnet (SPM) motors is carried out, in terms of ...

Flux-Weakening Control for IPMSM Employing Model Order Reduction

open access: yes2018 XIII International Conference on Electrical Machines (ICEM), 2018
The variation of magnetic parameters due to the magnetic saturation and cross coupling can affect the efficiency and the stability of the control system in electrical machines, especially at high-speed operation. This paper presents an approach independent of the magnetic model parameters to control synchronous motors at the flux-weakening region.
