Effect of class F fly ash on the durability properties of concrete
The present study evaluates the application of class F fly ash as a partial replacement of binder in concrete. The compressive strength of the fly ash samples showed low early compressive strength comparing to the control samples.

Outline of a Washing Treatment to Improve Electric Arc Furnace Slag Environmental Behavior
This study evaluates a water‐washing treatment for electric arc furnace slag to reduce the leaching of hazardous elements (Cr, Ba, Mo, and V), enabling its reuse. The process effectively decreases leachate concentrations. Using the treated slag as a substitute aggregate in concrete reduces greenhouse gases emissions by 42.5% compared to landfilling ...

Treatment of fly ash from power plants using thermal plasma
Fly ash from power plants is very toxic because it contains heavy metals. In this study fly ash was treated with a thermal plasma. Before their treatment, the fly ash was analyzed by many technics such as X-ray fluorescence, CHN elemental analysis ...

Innovative development and structural behavior of hollow columns using inflatable molds
Abstract This study introduces a novel approach for constructing hollow columns using precast (PC) methods enhanced by inflatable air tubes as internal molds. The proposed method addresses practical challenges in conventional hollow column construction, such as limited constructability, high production cost, and interference between internal molds and ...

ABSTRACT Excess lung cancer risk in Xuanwei and Fuyuan, China, has been attributed to household air pollution from use of a locally sourced smoky (bituminous) coal. However, the carcinogenic mechanisms remain unclear. Given the important role of inflammation in lung cancer development, this study compared the proinflammatory potentials of the ...

Mallard response to experimental human disturbance on sanctuary areas is mediated by hunting
Wildlife managers often provide spatial sanctuaries for wildlife to escape both lethal (e.g. hunting) and non‐lethal (e.g. non‐consumptive recreation) human disturbance. However, as societal interest in outdoor recreation continues to climb, many areas face added pressure to allow recreation, yet studies increasingly demonstrate negative effects of ...
