Bidirectional chopper using cell voltage equalizing with flyback transformer

IECON 2013 - 39th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2013
Recently, the technology on electric vehicle (EV) is more and more focused. In order to control the motor driving, power conversion circuits are applied, and as the energy storage, rechargeable battery and electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) are generally used.

Copper losses of flyback transformer: search for analytical expressions

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2003
Because analytical expressions are required to run optimization software, this subject is very topical. This work uses equivalent permeability to homogenize the winding structure and approximations for the window field. A progressive approach leads to the needed expressions for a transformer built around a gapped ferrite core. At every step, analytical

Waveform dependent switching losses in flyback transformer foil windings

2002 IEEE 33rd Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference. Proceedings (Cat. No.02CH37289), 2003
The copper losses in a foil wound flyback transformer are examined using a time domain 2-D finite element model. The purpose of the study is to examine the losses as a function of switching waveform. It is shown that the windings carry nonnegligible induced current at times when the net current in the winding is zero.

An improved winding loss analytical model of Flyback transformer

2010 Twenty-Fifth Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC), 2010
The winding loss of Flyback transformer is difficult to calculate because the current flowing in both sides is not simultaneous, and the current phase shift at each harmonic between primary side and secondary side is not fixed at 180o. This paper proposes a novel winding loss analysis model by considering the phase shift angle of the two current and ...

Cascaded Snubber Scheme Using Flyback Type Transformer for 10kV IGCT Applications

International Conference on Performance Engineering, 2019
IGCT semiconductor is the best candidate to expand the power and voltage rating of future wind turbine systems. IGCT-based converters need snubber and RCD clamp circuit to decay the sharpness of current and voltage stress across IGCT semiconductor at the

Hybrid pulse transformer with permanent magnet for flyback converter

INTERMAG Asia 2005. Digests of the IEEE International Magnetics Conference, 2005., 2005
Pulse transformers used in switching power supplies are desired for miniaturization and higher output power. The authors have been investigating the hybrid pulse transformer (HPT) with permanent magnet to increase output power by expanding operating range of magnetomotive force.

Design of the Number of Transformer Shielding Winding Turns for Minimizing Low-Frequency Common-Mode Noise in Flyback Converters

IEEE transactions on electromagnetic compatibility (Print), 2019
Transformer shielding techniques are widely applied to suppress common-mode (CM) noise. As an important shielding method, winding shielding gains lots of attention because of its convenience and cost effectiveness.

Development of a Corona Discharge Detector for Flyback Transformers

IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, 1977
This paper describes a new corona discharge detector for flyback transformers. It can detect corona discharges which are generated by the flyback pulse and have a great effect on the reliability of flyback transformers. It also adds greatly to the insulation design and quality control of flyback transformers.

An active-clamping ZVS flyback converter with integrated transformer

2014 International Power Electronics Conference (IPEC-Hiroshima 2014 - ECCE ASIA), 2014
This paper propose an active-clamping flyback converter using a integrated transformer. The proposed converter is composed of two active-clamp flyback converter. The presented converter can equally share the total load current between two secondaries so that the rectifier diode conduction loss can be decreased.

Determining the Number of Transformer Shielding Winding Turns for Suppressing Common-Mode Noise in Flyback Converters

IEEE transactions on electromagnetic compatibility (Print), 2018
Shielding techniques are widely applied in suppression of common-mode noise (CMN) in flyback converters. Winding shielding is an attractive technique in a flyback transformer to suppress CMN from the converter because it is easy to manufacture without ...
