The Outer Dinaric coastal belt is dominated by thick Mesozoic to Paleogene platform carbonates, which are followed by Eocene flysch deposits and subsequently by various Eocene to Lower Oligocene clastics. Neogene lacustrine sediments are found only in small patches.
