On radar polarimetry in FM-CW radar [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of IGARSS '93 - IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2002
This paper attempts to apply the principle of radar polarimetry to wideband synthetic aperture FM-CW radar and presents a basic polarimetric detection result of a linear target in a laboratory measurement. Although the principle of radar polarimetry has well been established for the completely polarized wave and for the monostatic case, it still needs ...

Advanced polarimetric subsurface FM-CW radar [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 1998
The subsurface radar suffers from two typical problems, i.e., strong clutter from surface and severe wave attenuation in the underground. This paper presents a unique countermeasure to these problems using a polarimetric FM-CW radar and an equivalent sensitivity time control (STC) technique.

Scanning FM-CW radar sounder

1972 Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 1972
A second generation FM-CW radar sounder is described which has scanning capability and is fully mobile. The sounder is used as a remote sensor with unprecedented range resolution for fine scale structural details in the lower troposphere. Design considerations and performance characteristics of this new sounder are presented and examples of ...

FM‐CW radar sensing of the lower atmosphere

Radio Science, 1980
FM‐CW radars have revealed many unique marine boundary layer echoes in great detail and permit new interpretations when they are operated simultaneously with other remote sensors. Three different subject areas and associated observations are presented. First, an FM‐CW radar can provide information on tropospheric radio propagation conditions through a ...

A 90 GHz FM-CW-RADAR Transmitter

MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2005
The design and the performance of an FM-CW-RADAR transmitter for 90 GHz set up synchronized and powercombined IMPATT-oscillators are presented in this paper. The synchronising source consists of a 45 GHz-Gunn-oscillator which is simultaneously swept and doubled by the same varactor.

Analysis of target response of FM-CW radar

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1986
Detection and location of different targets buried in ground or constructional walls depends to a great extent on the knowledge of expected target return response. The analysis of the target-radar response for FM-CW ground probing radar is performed with the aid of a signal flow diagram relating the target response and the radar performance.

Digital tracking filter for FM-CW radar

2013 International Mutli-Conference on Automation, Computing, Communication, Control and Compressed Sensing (iMac4s), 2013
The paper discusses a method for improving the SNR and hence sensitivity of Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FM-CW) radar. In FM-CW radar, a beat signal is generated internally, with its frequency proportional to the altitude. Beat frequency measurement results in error if the input has low Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR).
