Analysis and Emulation of FM Radio Signals for Passive Radar
2007 IEEE Aerospace Conference, 2007Due to its high power levels provided, and its wide coverage, FM radio could be a good opportunity transmitter for passive coherent location (PCL) radar systems. In this paper we study the effectiveness of FM signals as radar waveforms by means of simulated and real data analysis.

Synthesis of Short-Range FM Radars with General Modulations
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1976A closed-form relationship is developed relating the range response, FM modulation, and demodulation functions for short-range FM radars such that, given two of the functions, the third may be determined. Synthesis and analysis techniques using the relation apply to a class of FM radars including both single- and dual-channel (directionalDoppler ...

A Precise New System of FM Radar
Proceedings of the IRE, 1956The paper describes a new system of fm radar by which both the range and the speed of the target can be accurately measured. The "fixed error," which is a characteristic of fm radar apparatus now in use, has been eliminated, affording correct measurement of ranges, even if they are very short.

Digital tracking filter for FM-CW radar
2013 International Mutli-Conference on Automation, Computing, Communication, Control and Compressed Sensing (iMac4s), 2013The paper discusses a method for improving the SNR and hence sensitivity of Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FM-CW) radar. In FM-CW radar, a beat signal is generated internally, with its frequency proportional to the altitude. Beat frequency measurement results in error if the input has low Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR).

A New Display for FM/CW Radars
IRE Transactions on Military Electronics, 1961One of the limitations of FM/CW radars, often quoted in the literature, is in their inability to handle multiple targets. Several variations of a comparatively simple Range/Range Rate Display, capable of handling and resolving a large number of targets when used in conjunction with an FM/CW radar, are presented.

Backscattering measurements by an FM radar method
IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1963This paper describes a method for measuring the backscattering cross section of an arbitrary target using FM radar techniques. This method has a merit that it does not require a nonreflecting background behind the target, by the use of a high selective amplifier in the FM radar.

FM-UWB for radar and communications in medical applications
2008 First International Symposium on Applied Sciences on Biomedical and Communication Technologies, 2008UWB technology is an attractive technology for Wireless Body Area Networks. There are many advantages of using ultra-wideband (UWB) as both a sensing and a communication standard for biomedical applications: very low radiated power (-41.3 dBm/MHz), low power consumption, good coexistence with other existing wireless technologies, robustness to ...

At IRCTR, a collision avoidance radar demonstrator (Colarado) for autonomous vehicles is under development. The radar task is to avoid collisions by detecting the presence of obstacles and by determining the obstacle positions and velocities in the near range of the radar. In the years 1996-1999, an X-band (centre frequency 9.75 GHz, bandwidth 1.5 GHz)

Stepped-FM pulse radar for vehicular collision avoidance
Electronics and Communications in Japan (Part I: Communications), 1999In this paper a stepped-FM pulse radar for vehicular collision avoidance is proposed, providing anti-interference capability and high range resolution. Wide-band VCO devices have in general a linearity error over the bandwidth, which is critical issue for high-range-resolution radar. We also suggest a compensation scheme based on the LMS method for the

New developments in FM-CW radar sounding
Boundary-Layer Meteorology, 1973Simultaneous lidar and FM-CW (frequency modulated-continuous wave) radar observations are presented and both common and different features observed with the two remote sensors are described. Among the common features are Kelvin-Helmholtz (K-H) waves and turbulent structures.
