Improved Ground Target Detecting System Based on Both Miniaturized FMCW Radar and Radiometer

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
The frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar is generally applied in ground target detecting devices mounted on small shells or projectiles because of its compact size.

Frequency-modulated continuous-wave LiDAR compressive depth-mapping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We present an inexpensive architecture for converting a frequency-modulated continuous-wave LiDAR system into a compressive-sensing based depth-mapping camera.

Metasurface Antennas for FMCW Radar

open access: yesIEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2023
Two planar metasurface (MTS) antennas are designed to produce a pattern with optimal illumination in a radar scenario, given the a priori known path of the targets. The antennas are extremely flat, thin, with a monopole feed integrated in the plane of the structure. The monopole serves as a surface-wave (SW) launcher illuminating the slab.

kRadar++: Coarse-to-Fine FMCW Scanning Radar Localisation [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2020
This paper presents a novel two-stage system which integrates topological localisation candidates from a radar-only place recognition system with precise pose estimation using spectral landmark-based techniques. We prove that the—recently available—seminal radar place recognition (RPR) and scan matching sub-systems are complementary in a style ...

Inter-radar interference analysis of FMCW radars with different chirp rates

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
Millimetre-wave frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar is expected to be widely deployed for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and self-driving cars. Considering that automotive radars will be deployed in a huge number of cars in future,

Magnetic and radar sensing for multimodal remote health monitoring [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
With the increased life expectancy and rise in health conditions related to aging, there is a need for new technologies that can routinely monitor vulnerable people, identify their daily pattern of activities and any anomaly or critical events such as ...

External modulation method for generating accurate linear optical FMCW [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Frequency modulation continuous wave (FMCW) lasers are key components in modern optical imaging. However, current intracavity modulation lasers do not exhibit low-frequency jitter rate and high linearity due to the inherent relaxation oscillations ...

Focusing Bistatic FMCW SAR Signal by Range Migration Algorithm Based on Fresnel Approximation

open access: yesSensors, 2015
Frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) technique has recently been employed by synthetic aperture radar (SAR) to decrease the radar cost and volume. However, the operation range is limited by the direct energy leakage from the transmitting channel to
