Longitudinal Alzheimer’s Disease Progression Modelling via Hybrid Vision Transformers and Recurrent Neural Networks With Cross‐Modal Feature Fusion

open access: yesExpert Systems, Volume 43, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Modelling the evolution of Alzheimer's disease (AD) requires a thorough spatiotemporal study of longitudinal neuroimaging data. We propose in this paper a novel deep learning framework that uses a parallel combination of Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) and Vision Transformers (ViT) to extract temporal disease dynamics and spatial structural ...

Neural sensitivity to peer hierarchies: Risks for depressive symptoms for low status adolescents

open access: yesJournal of Research on Adolescence, Volume 36, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract Popularity is increasingly salient and impactful in adolescence, and unpopular youth are at significantly greater risk of experiencing depressive symptoms. However, adolescents can vary in their neural sensitivity to social stimuli, such that some adolescents may be more impacted by social status than others.

Parsing Reward Processing Substages With Multimodal EEG–fMRI

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 3, February 15, 2026.
Reward processing is complex and parsing anticipatory from consummatory substages will develop a more specific taxonomy of neural motivation and pleasure systems. Our multimodal data indicate EEG–fMRI covariance linking reward feedback EEG measures to dACC‐striatal regions, while reward anticipation EEG measures covaried with motor planning and ...

Lesion Location and Functional Connections Reveal Cognitive Impairment Networks in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 13, Issue 2, Page 242-255, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Cognitive impairment, fatigue, and depression are common in multiple sclerosis (MS), potentially due to disruption of regional functional connectivity caused by white matter (WM) lesions. We explored whether WM lesions functionally connected to specific brain regions contribute to these MS‐related manifestations.

Amyloid‐related default mode network hyperconnectivity and longitudinal decline in network distinctiveness in preclinical Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION We investigated stage‐specific alterations in functional connectivity (FC) of the default mode network (DMN) across the Alzheimer's disease (AD) continuum and tested whether early amyloid beta (Aβ)–related changes in within‐DMN FC (DMN‐FCwithin) predicted longitudinal alterations in DMN between‐network connectivity (DMN‐FCbetween).

Intranasal Seletracetam in a Patient with Reading Epilepsy: First‐in‐Human Use to Prevent Reflex Seizures

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, Volume 99, Issue 2, Page 535-539, February 2026.
We report the first human use of intranasal seletracetam (SEL) to prevent reflex seizures. A patient with epilepsy with reading‐induced seizures on levetiracetam (3,000 mg/day) continued to experience reading‐induced focal seizures with preserved consciousness.

Unraveling the Autism Spectrum Heterogeneity: Insights From ABIDE I Database Using Data/Model‐Driven Permutation Testing Approaches

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
Highlights of the Manuscript: Investigates the influence of cofactors in differentiating Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) from neurotypical individuals using the ABIDE database. Utilizes statistical analysis and permutation testing approaches to evaluate disparities between ASD and control groups.
