Regularization and finiteness of the Lorentzian LQG vertices

open access: yes, 2009
We give an explicit form for the Lorentzian vertices recently introduced for possibly defining the dynamics of loop quantum gravity. As a result of so doing, a natural regularization of the vertices is suggested.

‘I really like being on the floor, because I spend all the time in my chair’: Children with disabilities' experiences of physical activity in school

open access: yesBritish Journal of Special Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Children with multiple disabilities often encounter significant barriers to participating in physical activity, impacting not only their physical health but also their overall experience in school. This study places the voices of four children at the centre of their own research, exploring their lived experiences of participating in physical ...

Lightweight aggregates for structural concrete [PDF]

open access: yes, 1955
"April 8, 1955.""Reprinted from the Proceedings of the AMERICAN SOCIETY OF CIVIL ENGINEERING, Vol. 81, January 1955.""In recent years interest in lightweight concrete has become widespread, not only on account of its light weight, which is desirable in ...

REPRESENTING POLLUTION AT THE AGRARIAN–URBAN FRONTIER: Participatory Documentary Film‐Making in Bar Elias, Lebanon

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urban and Regional Research, EarlyView.
Abstract The Beqaa Valley in Lebanon has become increasingly polluted, and residents are attributing illness to improper waste disposal and dumping. This article explores local epistemologies of pollution’s causes and effects in three films, which were researched and produced by local residents of Bar Elias, a small town in the Beqaa, which has rapidly

Application of functionally graded materials for severe plastic deformation and smart materials: experimental study and finite element analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Functionally graded materials (FGMs) refer to the composite materials where the compositions or the microstructures are locally varied so that a certain variation of the local material properties is achieved.

Containing Histories Past and Present: Making Samples in the “Huntington Collection” (1893–1921)

open access: yesAmerican Anthropologist, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Huntington Anatomical Collection (1893–1921) includes the skeletal remains of immigrants, migrants, and lifelong New York City residents. The collection's formation was coeval with the formalization of physical anthropology, and the collection was made to serve research aims centered on race and origin.

Macau as Method: Recombinant Urbanism in Post‐Socialist China

open access: yesAsia Pacific Viewpoint, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In ‘Asia as Method’, Chen Kuan‐Hsing argues for the value of an indigenous inter‐Asian approach to analysing the effects of European imperialism on the countries and citizens of Asia. This article mobilises both Chen's inter‐Asian referencing strategy and the city‐state of Macau to explore Macau's role in China's engagements with global ...

Many-nodes/many-links spinfoam: the homogeneous and isotropic case

open access: yes, 2011
I compute the Lorentzian EPRL/FK/KKL spinfoam vertex amplitude for regular graphs, with an arbitrary number of links and nodes, and coherent states peaked on a homogeneous and isotropic geometry. This form of the amplitude can be applied for example to a
