Support‐Controlled Reaction Pathways via Dynamic Sulfur‐Mediated Interfaces for Selective Urea Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sulfur‐doped graphitized carbon nanofibers act as adaptive catalyst–support platforms, enabling dynamic sulfur‐mediated reconstruction and strong metal–support interactions. This unique behavior enhances catalyst stability and controls reaction pathways, achieving highly selective urea oxidation (∼92% N2) coupled with efficient hydrogen evolution ...

Multiphysics Modeling of a Metal Foam [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In metal foam processing nucleated gas bubbles expand in a heated metal, then the foam cools and solidifies. In this work we use Comsol Multiphysics 4.2 to study heat transfer, growth and movement of hydrogen gas bubbles in liquid aluminium for a ...

Shape Memory Microneedle to Prevent Risks of Reproductive Hormone Therapy by Switching Sustained to Burst Release Under a Single Transdermal Insertion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A shape‐memory microneedle system enables reproductive hormone therapy through a single transdermal insertion. The X‐shaped device sustains follicle‐stimulating hormone release for three days, and mild heating restores the O shape to trigger burst human chorionic gonadotropin release.

Shaping of Aluminum Foam during Foaming of Precursor Using Steel Mesh with Various Opening Ratios

open access: yesMetals, 2019
In this study, steel meshes with various opening ratios φ were used to shape aluminum foams during precursor foaming. The effect of φ on the heating rate and shape of the obtained aluminum foams was investigated.

Co‐Electrospinning Extracellular Matrix with Polycaprolactone Enables a Modular Approach to Balance Bioactivity and Mechanics of a Multifunctional Bone Wrap

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The incorporation of nondigested ECM and synthetic polymers into a co‐electrospinning system enables the decoupling of bioactivity and mechanical properties within a single wrap. This technique is used to develop a multifunctional bone wrap that achieves augmented membrane durability, sustained infection control, and enhanced vascularity for use in ...

Aspiration tests in aqueous foam using a breathing simulator [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Non-toxic aqueous foams are being developed by Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) for the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) for use in crowd control, cell extractions, and group disturbances in the criminal justice prison systems.
