Foam Fire Extinguishing Agent

open access: diamondJournal of Japan Oil Chemists' Society, 1993
Dry chemicals and inert gases are generally used as fire extinguishants to extinguish small-scale flammable fuel fires such as oil spill fires and oil stove fires. But they are not suitable for extinguishing large-scale oil fires, because of the following three reasons ; 1. there is a possibility of reignition after the fire extinction. 2.

Foaming honey: particle or molecular foaming agent?

open access: yesJournal of Dispersion Science and Technology, 2020
Honey foam was prepared using particle (precipitated CaCO3) or molecular (sodium lauryl sulfate) foaming agent. We noted the foam volume and the time it took a foam sample to collapse completely so as to determine the best foaming agent. Foams were prepared by aerating honey in the presence of varying concentrations of the particles or sodium lauryl ...

Polyvinyl alcohol as foaming agent in foam formed paper

open access: yesTAPPI Journal, 2019
The use of polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH or PVA) as a foaming agent in foam formed paper was investigated. Polyvinyl alcohol is a linear, nonionic water-soluble polymer. It has hydrophobic and hydrophilic parts that give it a surface-active character. PVOH is mainly characterized by degree of hydrolysis and molar mass.
