Application of foaming agent–oxidizing agent couples to foamed-glass formation

Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 2021
We report on the use of foaming agent couples to foam cathode-ray-tube panel glass and uncover the influence of the carbon type, MnxOy and furnace atmosphere on the foaming effect and physical properties of the foams. In oxidizing atmosphere, carbon burns out before the foaming starts and the best foaming effect is achieved with MnO2.

New foaming agents for aluminum foams

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2020
Abstract This article provides alternatives to titanium hydride foaming compositions for the production of aluminum foam. Using methods of hot plastic deformation, preforms containing various blowing agents were obtained. In the laboratory furnace, the obtained samples were foamed. After that, samples were made and an analysis of the structure of the

Liquid Metal Foaming via Decomposition Agents

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2021
As an emerging functional material, the liquid metal has demonstrated its encouraging potential in several areas with practical trials, while its global uniformity including high density and limited macroscopic interface might become a barrier for some tough application scenarios.

Influence of foaming agent on cement and foam concrete

Construction and Building Materials, 2021
Abstract Foaming agent is an indispensable component in preparation of foam concrete by using prefabricated foams. In this study, four types of foaming agents were used to prepare foam concrete. Effect of foaming agent on properties of fresh and hardened foam concrete, interaction between foaming agent and cement, and the gas–liquid interface in foam

FOAMING AGENT FOR ALLOYS OF ALUMINIUM FOAMS

Scientific Bulletin Series D : Mining, Mineral Processing, Non-Ferrous Metallurgy, Geology and Environmental Engineering, 2018
The powder compact melting technique for aluminium foam production as practised today accepts a certain mismatch between foaming agent decomposition and matrix alloy melting temperatures. This mismatch is believed to influence the pore structure in an unfavourable way.

Nerve agents degraded by enzymatic foams

Nature, 1998
The decontamination of large areas that have been exposed to chemical weapons is a critical component of defence and anti-terrorist strategies around the world1,2,3. Until now, nerve agents could be decontaminated only with bleach treatment and/or ex situ incineration4, which had severe environmental consequences. Small-scale methods of decontamination

Study on Foaming Agent Foam Ability and Stability for Foam Concrete

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
Foam ability and stability of foaming agent are key factors for foam concrete properties. Through researching LAS, SDS and magnesite foaming agent commercially available, the results show that adding HPMC after can reduce LAS, SDS and magnesite foam bleeding quantity and subsidence distance and has little impact on foam expansion, magnesite foam ...

Synthesis of Compound Foaming Agent of Lightweight Foamed Concrete

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
The foaming agent used in lightweight gypsum-based foam concrete was discussed. The effect of the single-doped foaming agent, codoped foaming agent and ternary foaming agent on the settling height, bleeding volume and defoaming time of fresh foam were investigated.

Carbonate-Foaming Agents in Aluminum Foams: Advantages and Perspectives

Metallurgical and Materials Transactions B, 2014
Aluminum foams are commonly produced using hydride foaming agents. Carbonates are inexpensive and more convenient to handle than hydrides. In this review article, the replacement of titanium hydride by carbonate foaming agents in aluminum and aluminum alloys was studied.
