A TEST OF THE OBLIQUE-RIFTING MODEL FOR TRANSFER ZONE DEFORMATION IN THE NORTHERN FEN-WEI RIFT: IMPLICATIONS FROM THE 1989 M 6.1 DATONG-YANGGAO EARTHQUAKE SWARM

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2019
Tectonophysical experiments show that the evolution of the Fen-Wei Rift is controlled by oblique rifting. A key characteristic of the model in our study is that the western and eastern borders of the transfer zone between the adjacent NEE-striking ...

ON THE FOCAL MECHANISM OF VOLCANIC EARTHQUAKES IN SAKURAJIMA VOLCANO

open access: yes, 1978
Focal mechanism of volcanic earthquakes (A type) in Sakurajima volcano are studied. Mainresults are as follows:1) At the calm stage of volcanic activity, the focal mechanism is strike slip fault type.2) At the former period of active stage of volcanic ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Magma Supply System at Batur Volcano Inferred from Volcano-Tectonic Earthquakes and Their Focal Mechanism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
DOI: 10.17014/ijog.v8i2.159The Volcano-Tectonic (VT) earthquakes occurring during September - November 2009 were analyzed. The result shows that the epicentres aligning in NE- SW direction coincided with the weak zone of Batur Volcano Complex.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Coulomb stress effects of the April 3, 2024 Hualien, Taiwan, China MS 7.3 earthquake on the surrounding faults and subsequent April 23, 2024 MS 6.2 and MS 6.3 earthquakes

open access: yesDizhi lixue xuebao
Objective  To determine the rupture mode of the MS 7.3 earthquake in Hualien, Taiwan, China on April 3, 2024 and its triggering effect on subsequent seismic events in the surrounding area, the co-seismic displacement field and the induced areal strain ...

FMC—Earthquake focal mechanisms data management, cluster and classification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Seismicity is frequently used to deduce the tectonics of a region. The study of earthquakes as a tectonic component, seismotectonics, has grown as one of the key research areas on active tectonics, especially from the analysis of earthquake focal ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

On Maskin monotonicity of solution based social choice rules [PDF]

open access: yes
Howard (1992) argues that the Nash bargaining solution is not Nash implementable, as it does not satisfy Maskin monotonicity. His arguments can be extended to other bargaining solutions as well.
