Damage indicators and failure prediction in Focal Mechanism solutions
2020<p>Acoustic Emissions (AE), the laboratory analogue to seismic events, recorded during conventional triaxial deformation tests allow for an unprecedented amount of information on the evolution of fractured media within a controlled environment.

FOCAL MECHANISM SOLUTION OF THE 15TH MARCH 2008, NYAMANDLOVU EARTHQUAKE
South African Journal of Geology, 2009The focal mechanism solution of the 15th March 2008 earthquake (mb = 4.3) that occurred in the Nyamandlovu area, northwest of Bulawayo City, Zimbabwe, has been determined from P-wave first motion polarities. Results show normal oblique left lateral faulting. The earthquake mechanism bears a signature that is almost identical to those of events recorded

Focal Mechanism Solutions and Tectonics of the Middle America ARC
The Journal of Geology, 1978Fault plane solutions of 67 earthquakes along the Middle America arc were determined. These focal mechanisms delineate tectonic activity characteristics of a subduction zone. Focal mechanisms of shallow events beneath the trench axis indicate normal faulting resulting from initial flexure of the downgoing plate.

Focal mechanism solutions and nature of plate movements in Pakistan
Journal of Geodynamics, 1986Abstract From the seismic point of view, the territory of Pakistan which lies between latitude 23°–37° N and longitude 61°–75° E is one of the most active zones in the world. The importance of this area lies in terms of movements of the Indian plate with respect to Eurasia on the west.

Focal mechanism solutions for earthquakes in Iran
Physics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors, 1984Abstract Focal mechanism solutions, derived by using P-wave first motion directions read from seismograms of Worldwide Standardized Stations Network (WWSSN), are presented for 36 earthquakes in Iran. In many cases the first motion data admit more than one solution.

Focal-mechanism solutions of earthquakes and tectonics of the hindukush region
Tectonophysics, 1984Abstract Seventeen focal-mechanism solutions have been obtained for earthquakes occurring in the Hindukush region using P-wave first motion directions observed from short as well as long period records. These solutions have indicated a thrust type of faulting. Some of the solutions show small components of strike slip motions.

A comparison of multiple solutions of focal mechanisms
Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 1964Abstract The occurrence of focal mechanism solutions of the same earthquake by different authors is examined. Of 42 instances of such multiple solutions for earthquakes which occurred around the borders of the Pacific Ocean, it is found that of 84 possible pairs of multiple solutions agreement is excellent in 8 cases, good in 13, fair in

Two focal-mechanism solutions for earthquakes from Iceland and Svalbard
Tectonophysics, 1977Abstract Strike-slip solutions have been obtained and are presented here for the focal mechanisms of one earthquake from Iceland and one from Svalbard, on 13 and 18 January 1976, respectively. A fault plane is suggested for the Iceland earthquake.

Modern tectonic stress field in the Chinese mainland inverted from focal mechanism solutions
Acta Seismologica Sinica, 1999The inversion of modern tectonic stress field in China is made by regions on the basis of focal mechanism data in the period of 1920–1996. Results of the inversion show that the maximum principal compressive stress σ1 axis strikes nearly north-south direction in the Tibet Plateau and western China, east-west direction in North China.

Focal mechanism solution of the Himalayan earthquake of February 14, 1977
Tectonophysics, 1982Abstract Through a closely spaced local network of seismic stations in Himachal Pradesh, India, supplemented by worldwide P-wave first-motion data, the source mechanism of the February 14, 1977 earthquake which occurred very close to the Rawalpindi area in Pakistan has been determined.
