NSCT and focus measure optimization based multi-focus image fusion

Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems, 2021
Getting a complete description of scene with all the relevant objects in focus is a hot research area in surveillance, medicine and machine vision applications. In this work, transform based fusion method called as NSCT-FMO, is introduced to integrate the image pairs having different focus features.

Digital method for measuring the focus error

Applied Optics, 1997
We show how the focus longitudinal error z can be deduced from the observed image. This deduction requires some digital image processing. Once the focus error z is known, one may compensate for it either by shifting the lens or by deblurring the image digitally. We have studied systems with a circular or with a rectangular aperture. In the former case,

Focus measurement with a simple pattern design

Applied Optics, 2001
The increasingly smaller depth of focus of advanced lithographic tools requires that the position of best focus be determined to ensure accuracy and efficiency. We present what we believe is a novel bar in bar that is drawn on a conventional chrome binary mask to translate focal errors into center-to-center shifts of outer and inner bars.

Improving focus measurements using logarithmic image processing

Journal of Microscopy, 2010
SummaryThe logarithmic image processing (LIP) model is a mathematical framework which provides algebraic and functional operations for the processing of intensity images valued in a bounded range. The LIP model has been proved to be physically consistent, most notably with some image formation models and several laws and characteristics of human ...

Operationalizing dyspnea: focus on measurement.

Heart & lung : the journal of critical care, 1992
Dyspnea is a multidimensional disorder that nurses and physicians deal with in a variety of settings. Because dyspnea can have major effects on the lives of patients, health care providers need to accurately assess the antecedents and reactions to dyspnea and to evaluate the efficacy of their individualized interventions.

Combining Focus Measures through Genetic Algorithm for Shape from Focus

2014 International Conference on Information Science & Applications (ICISA), 2014
For the reconstruction of three-dimensional (3D) shape of microscopic objects different focus measure operators have been employed. It is difficult to compute accurate depth map using a single focus measure due to different type of texture. Moreover, real images with diverse types of illumination and contrast lead to the erroneous depth map estimation ...

MEASURING FACTORY FOCUS: AN EMPIRICAL STUDY

Production and Operations Management, 1996
Focus in the manufacturing plant is generally deemed to be an important element of success in manufacturing strategy. Yet, little work has been completed in the measurement of plant focus and a dearth of empirical evidence exists to support the broad popularity of this concept.

Focus retrocollimated interferometry for focal-length measurements

Applied Optics, 2002
Focus retrocollimated interferometry is developed for the measurement of focal lengths of optical lenses and systems, and achievable accuracy is discussed. It is shown that this method can be used to measure both short and long focal lengths simply and with high accuracy.

Robust self-matching based focus measure

SPIE Proceedings, 2008
This paper proposes a novel focus measure based on self-matching methods. A unique pencil-shaped profile is identified by comparing the similarity between patterns extracted around their neighborhood in each scene. Based on this, a new criterion function, CPV, is defined to evaluate focused or defocused scenes.
