Robust Focus Measure Operator Using Adaptive Log-Polar Mapping for Three-Dimensional Shape Recovery
Microscopy and Microanalysis, 2015AbstractShape from focus (SFF) is a passive optical technique that reconstructs object shape from a sequence of image taken at different focus levels. In SFF techniques, computing focus measurement for each pixel in the image sequence, through a focus measure operator, is the fundamental step. Commonly used focus measure operators compute focus quality

Fusion of infrared and visible images based on focus measure operators in the curvelet domain
Applied Optics, 2012Aiming at the differences of physical characteristics between infrared sensors and visible ones, we introduce the focus measure operators into the curvelet domain in order to propose a novel image fusion method. First, the fast discrete curvelet transform is performed on the original images to obtain the coefficient subbands in different scales and ...

Low-power passive focus measure operator based on the DCT for mobile phones
The Imaging Science Journal, 2008AbstractA new focus measure operator applicable in the auto-focus function of a mobile phone has been presented. The proposed operator uses the middle frequency component of a discrete cosine transform to calculate the focus value of an image. Experimental results from various sample images show that the proposed operator requires a minimum number of ...

Reduced Tenegrad Focus Measure for Performance Improvement of Astronomical Images
International Conference on Electronics, Information and Communications, 2022A focus measurement for astronomical images is a significant factor in astrometry research because an accurate measure of celestial objects' properties is focus-dependent.

Multidirectional focus measure for accurate three‐dimensional shape recovery of microscopic objects
Microscopy research and technique (Print), 2021Shape from focus (SFF) is a technique to recover the shape of an object from multiple images taken at various focus settings. Most of conventional SFF techniques compute focus value of a pixel by applying one of focus measure operators on neighboring ...

Abstract The measured current wave shapes of PF1000 plasma focus discharged at 16 kV in deuterium in the pressure range 1.05–1.2 Torr are fitted to the computed current wave shapes using the Lee model code. Very good fit is achieved which suggests that the code is configured very well for the PF1000 for these shots.

Depth map estimation using exponentially decaying focus measure based on SUSAN operator
2009 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, 2009This paper presents a novel technique for depth map estimation using a sequence of images acquired at varying focus. In depth map estimation noise, illumination variations and types of extracted features significantly affect the performance of a focus measure.

Application of Fuzzy Logic on Astronomical Images Focus Measure
2019 International Conference on Innovative Trends in Computer Engineering (ITCE), 2019Focus accuracy is an essential factor that affects the astronomical observations quality. The accurate measure of celestial objects properties depends on focus. Automatic focusing is necessary for astronomical observations imaging systems.

Ion beam measurements in a small plasma focus operating in hydrogen/gas mixtures
12th International Conference on High-Power Particle Beams. BEAMS'98. Proceedings (Cat. No.98EX103), 2002Dense transient plasmas of high energy density, can be easily produced in a plasma focus device, on a cost effective basis. High energy ion beam emission is one, among several others, of the very interesting transient plasma phenomena observed in plasma focus discharges.

Soft X-ray yield measurement in a small plasma focus operated in neon
IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 1998The United Nations University/International Center for Theoretical Physics Plasma Focus Facility (UNU/ICTP PFF), a small plasma focus, has proven very useful as a training device for research initiation and as a test bed for applications. In this work, its performance in terms of a soft X-ray (SXR) source is examined.
