Through-focus scanning optical microscopy (TSOM) considering optical aberrations: practical implementation

open access: yesOptics Express, 2015
Through-focus scanning optical microscopy (TSOM) method based on use of a library, which is composed of simulated defocused images of nanosized silicon lines on the top of a monocrystalline silicon substrate, is demonstrated. The images are simulated using Finite-Differences in Time-Domain (FDTD) method taking into account optical aberrations of the ...

Quantum superiority for verifying NP-complete problems with linear optics

open access: yes, 2017
Demonstrating quantum superiority for some computational task will be a milestone for quantum technologies and would show that computational advantages are possible not only with a universal quantum computer but with simpler physical devices.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Time-dependent two-level models and zero-area pulses

open access: yes, 2015
Time-dependent two-level models have been an important element in physics, and in particular in quantum optics since 1930's. We review the basics of these models and focus on the dynamics induced by off-resonant zero-area pulses by using a Sech-Tanh ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Wavefront correction with image-based interferometric focus sensing in two-photon microscopy

open access: yesNanophotonics
Adaptive optics is a technology that corrects wavefront distortions to enhance image quality. Interferometric focus sensing (IFS), a relatively recently proposed method within the field of adaptive optics, has demonstrated effectiveness in correcting ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Design, Analysis, and Manufacturing of Diffractive Achromatic Optical Systems

open access: yesMicromachines
The increasing resolution requirements of imaging optical systems must be satisfied by expanding the aperture of the optical system according to Rayleigh’s criterion, and larger apertures of conventional refractive/reflective optics place a greater ...
