Current Advances in Computational Lung Ultrasound Imaging: A Review [PDF]
In the field of biomedical imaging, ultrasonography has become increasingly widespread, and an important auxiliary diagnostic tool with unique advantages, such as being non-ionising and often portable. This article reviews the state-of-the-art in medical ultrasound image computing and in particular its application in the examination of the lungs. First,

Focused ultrasound and microbubbles for enhanced extravasation [PDF]
The permeability of blood vessels for albumin can be altered by using ultrasound and polymer or lipid-shelled microbubbles. The region in which the microbubbles were destroyed with focused ultrasound was quantified in gel phantoms as a function of pressure, number of cycles and type of microbubble.

Maillard Type Reaction for Electroless Copper Plating onto Ceramic Nanoparticles
This work presents the manufacturing of copper‐plated ceramic nanoparticles in an environmentally friendly way. Supported by organic functionalizations with pectin an electroless plating step can be performed. Sustainable reagents like xylose, and several amino acids are used for the reduction process.

Treating Cancer with Strong Magnetic Fields and Ultrasound [PDF]
It is proposed to treat cancer by the combination of a strong magnetic field with intense ultrasound. At the low electrical conductivity of tissue the magnetic field is not frozen into the tissue, and oscillates against the tissue which is brought into rapid oscillation by the ultrasound.

Time-reversed photoacoustic guided time-reversed ultrasonically encoded optical focusing [PDF]
Deep-tissue optical imaging is a longstanding challenge limited by scattering. Both optical imaging and treatment can benefit from focusing light in deep tissue beyond one transport mean free path. Wavefront shaping based on time-reversed ultrasonically encoded (TRUE) optical focusing utilizes ultrasound focus, which is much less scattered than light ...

Development of novel algorithm to visualize blood vessels on 3D ultrasound images during liver surgery [PDF]
Volume visualization is a method that displays three-dimensional (3D) data in two-dimensional (2D) space. Using 3D datasets instead of 2D traditional images improves the visualization of anatomical structures, and volume visualization helps radiologists and surgeons to review large datasets comprehensively so that diagnosis and treatment can be ...
