A Plug‐and‐Play Volume Minimizing Micromixer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Microscale fluid mixing has numerous applications where rapid and efficient mixing is required, including drug discovery, bio‐analysis and point‐of‐care diagnostics. Conventional soft lithography processes, however, make the integration of robust and reliable mixing difficult to implement in practice, especially across different flow rates ...

Rate of forcing and the forecastability of critical transitions

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2016
Critical transitions are qualitative changes of state that occur when a stochastic dynamical system is forced through a critical point. Many critical transitions are preceded by characteristic fluctuations that may serve as model‐independent early ...

An Improved Autonomous Current-Fed Push-Pull Parallel-Resonant Inverter for Inductive Power Transfer System

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
In the inductive power transfer (IPT) system, it is recommended to drive the resonant inverter in zero-voltage switching (ZVS) or zero-current switching (ZCS) operation to reduce switching losses, especially in dynamic applications with variable ...

On the solutions of the one dimensional Ginzburg-Landau equations for superconductivity

open access: yes, 1999
This paper gives a complete description of the solutions of the one dimensional Ginzburg-Landau equations which model superconductivity phenomena in infinite slabs. We investigate this problem over the entire range of physically important parameters: $a$

Activation of ERBB4 Pathway Inhibits Pathological Transdifferentiation of Lung Epithelial Progenitors into CD66c+ Basal Cells in Severe Lung Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In fibrotic distal lung regions, CD66c+ basal cells emerge as a pathological state. Using human distal lung organoids, this study identifies CD66c+ basal cells as a pro‐fibrotic state arising through transdifferentiation from secretory, AT2, and basal cells.

pde2path - version 2.0: faster FEM, multi-parameter continuation, nonlinear boundary conditions, and periodic domains - a short manual [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
pdepath 2.0 is an upgrade of the continuation/bifurcation package pde2path for elliptic systems of PDEs over bounded 2D domains, based on the Matlab pdetoolbox.

Endothelial GPR68 Is Essential for Arteriogenesis and Represents a Therapeutic Target in a Model of Peripheral Artery Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Endothelial GPR68 is identified as a critical regulator of collateral artery growth in peripheral artery disease. Genetic and pharmacological evidence demonstrates that GPR68 integrates hemodynamic cues to drive monocyte recruitment and inflammatory remodeling, thereby promoting collateral arteriogenesis and tissue perfusion after ischemia ...

Modified slow-fast analysis method for slow-fast dynamical systems with two scales in frequency domain

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, 2019
A modified slow-fast analysis method is presented for the periodically excited non-autonomous dynamical system with an order gap between the exciting frequency and the natural frequency.

On the bifurcation behavior of a folded notebook page

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Physics, 2023
We study how a bound notebook page can be folded once so that the page is visible when the notebook is closed and becomes a bookmark. An additional practical requirement is that the folded page stays within the same side of the bind, so that it does not get creased further when one closes the notebook.

Leveraging Macrophage Metabolic Reprogramming for Enhanced Anti‐Tumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs) are key regulators of the tumor microenvironment (TME), with their metabolic states playing a critical role in tumor progression or regression. This review summarizes current understanding of TAM metabolic plasticity alongside cutting‐edge bioengineering innovations, outlining a roadmap for transforming the ...
