Molecular evidence for the association of a strain of Uganda variant of East African cassava mosaic virus to symptom severity in cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) fields in Togo [PDF]
: Problem statement: This study was carried out to demonstrate that the severity of Cassava Mosaic Disease (CMD) in Togo, is not only influenced by synergism between cassava Begomoviruses in presence, but essentially by recombination between the ...

Glyphosate inhibition of ferric reductase activity in iron deficient sunflower roots [PDF]
Iron (Fe) deficiency is increasingly being observed in cropping systems with frequent glyphosate applications. A likely reason for this is that glyphosate interferes with root uptake of Fe by inhibiting ferric reductase in roots required for Fe ...

Foliar diagnosis in Phalaenopsis orchid plants subjected to application of nitrogen
Production of orchids is important in floriculture, and nitrogen is one of the nutrients most required by plants. However, there is little information on nitrogen leaf analysis of these orchids. We evaluated the nitrogen fertilization on leaf nutritional status and on the production of dry mass and develop a diagnostic sheet for the orchid Phalaenopsis.

Chemical profiling and bioassays reveal that leaf‐litter leachates from urban trees flip between nourishing and killing Aedes aegypti larvae: dilute Tipuana tipu boosts growth, whereas concentrated, aged extracts are >90% lethal. Species‐specific chemistry thus turns street trees into potential self‐renewing tools for integrated vector control ...

Soils beneath symptomatic and asymptomatic kauri trees were analysed using LAMP, amplicon sequencing, shotgun metagenomics, and PICRUSt2. LAMP detected Phytophthora agathidicida in 39/60 samples, while shotgun metagenomics detected it at low abundance across all samples.

Corn Yield and Foliar Diagnosis Affected by Nitrogen Fertilization and Inoculation with Azospirillum brasilense [PDF]
ABSTRACT The biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) process in grasses is caused by diazotrophic bacteria, particularly Azospirillum brasilense. However, studies are lacking on BNF efficiency to define how much mineral nitrogen (N) can be applied to achieve more sustainable high yields.

Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi Mitigate Drought‐Enhanced Herbivore Performance in Maize
ABSTRACT Drought events are becoming increasingly frequent and intense, posing major challenges to crop productivity. Beyond direct water stress, drought can indirectly affect plants by enhancing herbivore performance. While arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) have been proposed to alleviate drought stress and to enhance plant resistance to herbivory ...

Abstract Ethiopia is Africa's second‐largest sorghum producer [Sorghum bicolor (L.) moench]. Despite these potentials, the production and productivity of sorghum yield remained low due to many agricultural factors. Among the factors, sorghum anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum sublineolum is one of the main fungal diseases substantially reducing ...

Abstract Maize (Zea mays L.) tolerance to early defoliation is shaped by genotype‐specific physiological and morphological responses. Defoliation disrupts the source–sink balance, altering carbon allocation and plant development. Understanding these responses is crucial for optimizing breeding programs and agronomic management.
