Perturbations of Compact Foliations [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Studies in Pure Mathematics, 1982
Consider a foliation of a compact manifold with all leaves compact. When must any \(C^ 0\)-perturbation of this foliation have a compact leaf? \textit{R. Langevin} and \textit{H. Rosenberg} [Lect. Notes Math. 652, 122-127 (1978; Zbl 0382.57011)] proved that any such perturbation of a fibration over a surface with nonzero Euler characteristic has a ...

Achieving Large and Anisotropic Spin‐Mediated Thermal Transport in Textured Quantum Magnets

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
An advanced solvent‐cast cold pressing method is developed to synthesize highly textured quantum magnets. By aligning spin chains in Ca2CuO3 perpendicular to the pressing direction, a spin‐mediated thermal conductivity of 10 ± 1 W m⁻¹ K⁻¹ is achieved, the highest reported for polycrystalline quantum materials.

Generalized transversely projective structure on a transversely holomorphic foliation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2002
The results of Biswas (2000) are extended to the situation of transversely projective foliations. In particular, it is shown that a transversely holomorphic foliation defined using everywhere locally nondegenerate maps to a projective space ℂℙn, and ...

Evaluation of vegetative phenological stages in a spruce monoculture depending on parameters of the environment

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2011
Vegetative phenological stages were evaluated in a spruce monoculture of the third age class in the region of the Drahanská vrchovina Upland. Methods of the ČHMÚ (Czech Hydro-Meteorological Office) were used. Temperature requirements of Norway spruce for

Ideal Molecular Sieving with a Dense MOF for Helium Upgrading with Highly Diffusion Selective Mixed Matrix Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The separation of Helium gas from natural gas is challenging but highly important. MIL‐116(Ga), a “non‐porous” metal–organic framework is used as a molecular sieve to separate He from CH4. Druse‐like MIL‐116(Ga) particles are integrated into polysulfone mixed matrix membranes.

Intramolecular Down‐ and Up‐Conversion in Dimeric Tetracene Complexes Centered via Platinum(II) and Palladium(II)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐tetracene dimeric complexes are synthesized through the pyridyl coordination to either Pt(II) or Pd(II). Photophysical properties are systematically compared as a function of the metal using steady‐state and time‐resolved spectroscopy. The Pt(II) dimer exhibits efficient intramolecular singlet fission and subsequent intramolecular up‐conversion ...

Geology of amethyst quartz deposits from Montezuma and surrounding areas of Minas Gerais and Bahia States

open access: yesGeologia USP. Série Científica, 2023
Amethyst quartz deposits occur in some regions of Minas Gerais state, Brazil, related to different geological environments. The most important are associated with hydrothermal veins crossing the Espinhaço mountain range, mainly in small and eroded ...

Nanofillers Reinforcing Biopolymer Composites for Sustainable Food Packaging Applications: A State‐of‐the‐Art Review

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biopolymers are sustainable, biodegradable alternatives to petroleum‐based plastics for food packaging. Its adoption is often limited by poor mechanical strength, barrier properties, and improved thermal stability through the incorporation of nanofillers.
