Foliations and global inversion [PDF]

open access: yesCommentarii Mathematici Helvetici, 2009
We consider topological conditions under which a locally invertible map admits a global inverse. Our main theorem states that a local diffeomorphism f: M → ℝ^n is bijective if and only if H_{n − 1}(M) = 0 and the pre-image of every ...

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

On Legendrian foliations in contact manifolds II: Deformation theory [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Using the structural theorems developed in [Hua13], we study the deformation theory of coisotropic submanifolds in contact manifolds, under the assumption that the characteristic foliation is nonsingular. In the "middle" dimensions, we find an interesting relationship with foliation theory.

Mechanical Behavior and Microstructural Changes Associated with Tensile Deformation above the Martensite Start Temperature during Quenching and Subsequent Partitioning of a Low‐Alloy 37SiB6 Steel

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A new experimental setup, incorporating digital image correlation and infrared thermography in combination with inductive‐conductive heating for precise temperature control, is used to analyze the mechanical behavior and microstructural changes of sheet metal under complex thermomechanical test conditions that represent quench and partitioning ...

The Alpine Fault Hangingwall Viewed From Within: Structural Analysis of Ultrasonic Image Logs in the DFDP‐2B Borehole, New Zealand

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2018
Ultrasonic image logs acquired in the DFDP‐2B borehole yield the first continuous, subsurface description of the transition from schist to mylonite in the hangingwall of the Alpine Fault, New Zealand, to a depth of 818 m below surface. Three feature sets

On Completely Solvable Lie Foliation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
In this paper we try to generalize the Haefliger theorem on completly solvable Lie foliations. We prove that: every completely solvable Lie foliation on a compact manifold is the inverse image of a homogenus foliation. Every manifold in this paper is compact and our Lie group G is connexe and simply connexe.

On closed currents invariant by holomorphic foliations, I

open access: yes, 2012
We consider closed positive currents invariant by a singular holomorphic foliation on an algebraic surface.

Direct Ink Writing of Conductive Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines the use of direct ink writing (DIW) for fabricating conductive hydrogels with customizable 3D structures. It outlines the rheological requirements for successful DIW, followed by an exploration of the materials and ink formulations used to impart electronic and/or ionic conductivity to hydrogels while maintaining printability ...

Schlesinger foliation for deformations of foliations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
In this article, we show that for any deformation of analytic foliations, there exists a maximal analytic singular foliation on the space of parameters along the leaves of which the deformation is integrable.
