Some Developmental Antecedents of Level of Aspiration, 1964-1965

open access: yes
This study consists of data collected from the children whose mothers participated in the 1951-1952 Sears, Maccoby, and Levin Patterns of Child Rearing study. This follow-up focused on the child-rearing antecedents of level of aspiration in later life.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Clinical and Laboratory Predictors of Poor Outcomes in Pediatric Cerebral Malaria in Nigeria

open access: yesOman Medical Journal
Objectives: Cerebral malaria remains poorly understood despite being a common manifestation of severe malaria in children, often associated with poor outcomes. We sought to describe the burden of childhood cerebral malaria and identify factors predictive

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

DYSPEPSIA IN THE COMMUNITY: A FOLLOW‐UP STUDY

open access: yesInternational Journal of Clinical Practice, 1992
SUMMARYWe have repeated a population‐based survey of the pattern and prevalence of dyspeptic symptoms in 2460 subjects two years after the original survey, in order to document the changes in dyspeptic symptoms and consultation behaviour.A validated postal questionnaire was sent to 2460 subjects randomly selected in ten‐year age bands from the lists of

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
