Subdiaphragmatic venous hemodynamics in the Fontan circulation [PDF]
We investigated the subdiaphragmatic venous physiology in patients subjected to the Fontan operation to understand some of the early and late problems of this circulation.Flows were evaluated by Doppler ultrasonography in the subhepatic inferior vena cava, hepatic vein, and portal vein during respiratory monitoring and with a tilt table. Twenty control

This work presents an innovative approach to modelling 1D fluid dynamics in complex networks using physics‐informed neural networks as surrogate models. By integrating physics‐based constraints with data‐driven learning, we develop an efficient and generalisable framework for uncertainty quantification and parameter estimation in real‐world ...

A One‐Dimensional (1D) Computational Fluid Dynamics Study of Fontan‐Associated Liver Disease (FALD)
Fontan‐associated liver disease (FALD) is a disorder arising from congestion in the liver. This disease is prominent in patients with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). Through perfusion analysis, we find that as FALD progresses, there are increased pressures and decreased flow to certain regions of liver tissue.

ABSTRACT Pediatric extrapolation strategies issued by health authorities have streamlined pediatric drug development and reduced the unnecessary burden of conducting pediatric clinical studies. In line with these strategies, physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models have been utilized extensively for initial dosing regimen and sampling ...

Operação de um ventrículo e meio como uma alternativa para o ventrículo direito hipoplásico [PDF]
Objective: Patients with complex congenital heart disease, characterized by right ventricle hypoplasia, had a palliative surgical option with one and a half ventricular repair. Methods: From July 2001 to March 2009, nine patients (mean age 5.2 years ...

Obstetric outcome in women with congenital heart disease: A nationwide cohort in Sweden
In this large national case–control study in women with congenital heart disease, we showed an increased likelihood of giving birth prematurely, by cesarean section, and having a small‐for‐gestational‐age neonate compared to matched controls. Abstract Introduction Survival and healthcare for patients with congenital heart disease have improved, and the
