Fontan Failure and Death in Contemporary Fontan Circulation: Analysis From the Last Two Decades [PDF]
We sought to evaluate the incidence of Fontan failure or complication and its relation to death in patients having contemporary Fontan strategies over 2 decades.Five hundred patients who underwent Fontan completion (extracardiac, n = 326; lateral tunnel, n = 174) from 1985 to 2012 were reviewed.

Investigating Fontan Failure Using Mathematical Modeling [PDF]
Babies born with a single functioning heart ventricle instead of two require a series of surgeries during the first few years of life to redirect their blood flow, resulting in a Fontan circulation. Patients with Fontan circulations have excellent early survival; however, over time, their circulations begin to fail, ultimately resulting in their death.

Long-term management of Fontan patients: The importance of a multidisciplinary approach
The Fontan operation is a palliative procedure that leads to increased survival of patients with a functional single ventricle (SV). Starting from 1967 when the first operation was performed by Francis Fontan, more and more patients have reached ...

Lymphatic Abnormalities in Noonan Syndrome Extend Beyond Clinically Apparent Disease
ABSTRACT Lymphatic disease represents a well‐described manifestation of Noonan syndrome (NS), yet the full phenotypic spectrum remains incompletely characterized, especially in asymptomatic individuals. We conducted a cross‐sectional study including 10 individuals with NS (four with peripheral lymphedema and six without) and 10 age‐ and sex‐matched ...

ABSTRACT This article investigates whether the unconventional monetary policy (UMP) measures pursued by the Federal Reserve, the Bank of England, the Bank of Japan, and the European Central Bank since the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) are associated with an appetite for cryptocurrency.

5D Flow MRI Reveals Respiration‐Driven Changes in Blood Flow Energetics in Congenital Heart Disease
ABSTRACT Purpose Hemodynamic monitoring is essential for patients with right‐sided congenital heart disease (CHD). Respiration may have an increased impact on pulmonary flow in these patients that cannot be assessed by standard tools including 4D flow MRI. This study uses 5D flow MRI to assess respiratory‐cycle variations in flow energetics in patients
