Occlusion and center of foot pressure variation: Is there a relationship?

The influences of head and body posture on the mandibular rest position, the range of functional movements, and the initial tooth contact have been documented. In this investigation, the modifications of the position of the center of foot pressure during natural standing were studied in 30 women.

Foot Deformity and Pressure Management in the Diabetic Foot

Complications of diabetes such as neuropathy, tissue glycosylation, Charcot neuropathic osteoarthropathy and minor foot amputations all cause changes in the normal architecture and biomechanics of the foot. Deformity leads to areas of abnormal pressure load and the peak pressures at these points can be in excess of 1,000 kPa.

Analysis of foot pressure waveforms

A portable data acquisition system using pressure sensors, built to measure pressures between bony prominences of each foot and the shoe, is described. Data acquisition algorithms for extracting peak pressure, area under the curve, heel strike to pushoff time, and center of pressure are discussed.

Foot pressure patterns during gait

Peak pressure and temporal parameters of foot function were determined in 21 men and 11 women; few differences between men and women in any of the parameters were observed, either when walking barefoot or when wearing shoes. However, significant differences were observed when barefoot and shod walking were compared.

POSTURE AND THE ARTERIAL PRESSURE IN THE ISCHAEMIC FOOT

Systolic blood pressures were measured at the ankle by Doppler ultrasound sphygmomanometry in a series of elderly patients. Twenty-four limbs were affected by severe occlusive arterial disease and in 15 limbs there was no good evidence of significant peripheral vascular insufficiency.
