MODELLING OF PEDESTRIAN-INDUCED LOAD IN SERVICEABILITY LIMIT STATE ANALYSIS OF FOOTBRIDGES
The last few decades new trends in the design of pedestrian bridges have resulted in lighter and more slender structures. This leads to a reduction in natural frequencies and increased flexibility, and thus a greater possibility for structures to become ...

Visualization of crowd synchronization on footbridges [PDF]
This paper proposes a framework for the visualization of crowd walking synchronization on footbridges. The bridge is modeled as a mass-spring system, which is a weakly damped and driven harmonic oscillator. Both the bridge and the pedestrians walking on the bridge are affected by the movement of each other.

Vertical Vibrations of Footbridges Due to Group Loading: Effect of Pedestrian–Structure Interaction
The vibration serviceability of footbridges has evolved from the adoption of a single pedestrian crossing in the resonance condition to load cases in which several pedestrians cross the structure simultaneously.

Design of an emergency footbridge
This paper will describe the design of a temporary emergency floating footbridge, to be made when the infrastructure is destroyed by a flood, hurricane, tsunami or any other disaster. The bridge is made of identical floating modules. The modules are composed of prefabricated elements: two trusses, a pontoon and the footpath.

Deployment of a Tensegrity Footbridge
Deployable structures are structures that transform their shape from a compact state to an extended in-service position. Structures composed of tension elements that surround compression elements in equilibrium are called tensegrity structures. Tensegrities are good candidates for deployable structures since shape transformations occur by changing ...
