Design and Simulations of a Self-Assembling Autonomous Vertical Farm for Urban Farming
Vertical farming has been proposed as a solution for diminishing arable land as it significantly reduces the footprint of farming. Most contemporary solutions use a low level of automation; however, automation of vertical farming is currently attracting ...

Neutron Reflectometry and Compression of Graded Hydrogel Surfaces
Highly‐entangled and covalently‐crosslinked hydrogels with thin and thick surface gel layers are compressed in neutron reflectometry experiments. Surface gel layer thickness dictates the extent to which the polymer network at the surface of a hydrogel collapses, while crosslinking chemistry, and therefore elastic modulus, impacts the pressure at which ...

Microstructures fabricated by two‐beam DLIP combining spatial‐period and roughness gradients are fabricated to enhance directional transport of water droplets. The coupled gradients increase transport distance by 160% and strongly suppress motion against the gradient, demonstrating an effective strategy for controlled droplet manipulation.

PUGTIFs: Passively User-Generated Thermal Invariant Features
Feature detection is a vital aspect of computer vision applications, but adverse environments, distance and illumination can affect the quality and repeatability of features or even prevent their identification. Invariance to these constraints would make
