Foraging Behavior of Fishes in Aquatic Plants [PDF]
Abstract : Foraging behavior of juvenile bluegill (Lepomis macrochirus) and largemouth bass (Micropterus saitnoides) was observed in aquatic plants using underwater videography. This note describes relationships between plant stem density and foraging of fish, and discusses application of these data to evaluate the habitat value of aquatic plant beds.

ABSTRACT For millennia, human activities have transformed ecosystems globally. Determining which landscapes are predominantly anthropogenic is crucial to conservation and habitat restoration. Madagascar, a critically‐threatened biodiversity hotspot, is a prominent example.

Robust projections of future trends in global fish biomass, production and catches are needed for informed fisheries policy in a changing climate. Trust in future projections, however, relies on establishing that models can accurately simulate past ...

IntroductionAtlantic puffin (Fratercula arctica, hereafter “puffin”) reproductive success in the Gulf of Maine (GoM) has declined following a recent oceanographic regime shift that has led to rapid warming and increasingly frequent marine heatwaves ...

ABSTRACT The agri‐food sector, most notably intensive livestock production, stands as a major driver of climate change, prompting a shift towards plant‐based alternative protein production and consumption. Such protein transition is widely recognised as central to the development of an environmentally sustainable food economy.

Biodiversity Strategies in Action—Empirical Evidence From the Food Value Chain
ABSTRACT There is an increasing need for better understanding of firm activities that contribute to biodiversity preservation. Panwar, Ober, and Pinkse offer a valuable typology of corporate biodiversity protection strategies based on temporal and spatial dimensions, namely, the preloss (proactive) strategies of conservation and compensation, and the ...

ABSTRACT The last five years of research on sustainability labelling, reported in 175 journal articles, documents its effectiveness in increasing consumer choices of more sustainable food products. Some sustainability labels come out as stronger than others and their impact varies across products, countries, and individual consumers, depending on label

ABSTRACT Despite mounting regulatory pressure and growing scientific consensus on biodiversity loss, most corporate action remains reactive, fragmented, and strategically peripheral. Existing frameworks address what firms should report rather than how they can build the organizational capabilities required to act strategically.

Reduced size of larvae and small fish linked to warming and reduced prey density
Body size is an integrative trait that has declined across many ecological assemblages in the last decades. Changes in body size of early life stages and small‐bodied fish are driven by complex interactions between size‐dependent mortality, and temperature‐ and food‐dependent growth, and can have consequences for recruitment to the adult stock and food
