Robots have to explore entire unknown environment without stepping into risk areas and simultaneously collect all discovered targets. On simulating seed foraging by red harvester ants
2013 IEEE Symposium on Artificial Life (ALife), 2013Following guidelines found in the writings of biologist D. Gordon, we discuss our efforts to simulate the seed foraging behavior of the red harvester ant species P. barbatus. What is significant is modeling the transition of ants idle in the nest to forager status based on the rate of return of successful foragers.

A Probability Model for Forage Harvesting Systems
Transactions of the ASAE, 1982ABSTRACT Amodel is presented which calculates directly the long-term average yield and the variance in yield for various forage harvesting systems taking into account the probabilistic influence of weather on the delay in cutting due to rain, the time to dry forage to a given moisture content, leaching losses, and respiration losses.
