Foramen magnum meningiomas

2020
The foramen magnum meningioma (FMM) is one of most challenging tumors among all the meningiomas because of its distinctive location, clinical course, insidious onset, and the relative large size of the tumor during presentation. These tumors are slow-growing and clinical symptoms vary according to involvement of different structures including the ...

Mental foramen and apical foramen: A dangerous anatomical proximity

Australian Endodontic Journal
AbstractThe study evaluated the spatial position of the mental foramen (MF) using 300 cone‐beam computed tomography. The spatial position was analyzed with the horizontal location and relative location (distance between apical foramen and MF). The horizontal location was assessed through three positions (positions 1, 2, and 3).

The Enigmatic Foramen Lacerum

Neurosurgery, 1999
The microanatomic details of the foramen lacerum and surrounding region are described to clarify the relationship between the internal carotid artery and the foramen lacerum. The terminology related to these structures is reevaluated. Examples of pathological abnormalities restricted to the foramen lacerum region are presented to document the clinical ...

Meningiomas of the jugular foramen

Neurosurgical Review, 2005
Primary meningiomas of the jugular foramen are extremely rare. There is controversy regarding the management of these tumors. The objective of this article is to analyze the treatment and results in a series of ten cases. From a series of 107 patients that had been operated on for jugular foramen tumors between 1987 and 2005, ten had meningiomas.

Meningiomas of the Foramen Magnum

Journal of Neurosurgery, 1963
M ENINGIOMAS arising at the foramen magnum produce a clinical syndrome which may be difficult to distinguish from other lesions of this region which are less amenable to therapy. The radiologic diagnosis of these tumors, by which a definitive diagnosis can be made, has received heretofore only brief attention in the literature.

Foramen magnum meningioma

Surgical Neurology, 1982
A 46-year-old woman was initially hospitalized because of neck pain that radiated to the right arm. The pain had begun approximately one year prior to admission and had gradually increased in severity. At the time of admission to the hospital the patient also complained of weakness in the grip of her right hand.

The Posterior Condylar Fossa, Foramen and Canal, and the Jugular Foramen

Radiology, 1957
Variations of the posterior condylar fossa and jugular foramen are not adequately known in roentgen practice and are frequently the source of diagnostic difficulties and misinterpretations. Misinterpretation of posterior condylar fossa variations has occasionally even led to surgical intervention for a presumed jugular glomus tumor. It seems desirable,

Jugular foramen schwannomas

Journal of Neurosurgery, 1984
✓ Thirteen patients with schwannomas of the jugular foramen were operated on at the Cleveland Clinic between 1974 and 1983. The authors' experience in managing these rare tumors is presented. Three major growth patterns of jugular foramen schwannoma were seen, and it is postulated that the position of the tumor depends on its point of origin from the ...

Patent foramen ovale

Expert Review of Cardiovascular Therapy, 2005
Patent foramen ovale is incriminated in patients with cryptogenic stroke; however, concrete evidence that closure of patent foramen ovale using various devices is superior to continued medical therapy is not yet available. Controlled randomized trials are well underway to address this issue.
