Effect of different seawater Mg2 + concentrations on calcification in two benthic foraminifers

open access: yesMarine Micropaleontology, 2014
Magnesium, incorporated in foraminiferal calcite (Mg/CaCC), is used intensively to reconstruct past seawater temperatures but, in addition to temperature, the Mg/CaCC of foraminiferal tests also depends on the ratio of Mg and Ca in seawater (Mg/CaSW ...

(Table 16) Ranges of benthic foraminifers through the Neogene in ODP Hole 115-710A

open access: yes, 1990
Benthic foraminifers were counted according to the following scheme: 1 = present, 2 = 2 or more, 3 = 3-5, 4 = 5-10, 6 = 10-30, 7 = 30-50, 8 = 50-75, and 9 = 75-150.

Marsh development and sea level changes in the Gernika Estuary (southern Bay of Biscay): foraminifers as tidal indicators

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2006
The ecological distribution of some species of Foraminifera living in estuaries can be used in the interpretation of former coastal lines. There is a close relationship between tide level and the distribution of particular benthic foraminifer species.

Microfossils and brachiopods from the Lower Barremian at Prekonozi, eastern Serbia [PDF]

open access: yesGeološki Anali Balkanskoga Poluostrva, 2005
This paper presents the results of an integral biostratigraphical study based on orbitolinids and other benthic foraminifers, brachiopods and algae of a part of the Prekonozi section, eastern Serbia.

Stable Isotope Analysis as a Tool to Prevent Illicit Wildlife Trade of Songbirds in Brazil

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, EarlyView.
Feather isotopes provide clear differences between wild and captive songbirds in Brazil. Combining multiple isotopes improved classification accuracy and revealed individuals falsely declared as captive‐bred. These results demonstrate the potential of isotope analysis to detect wildlife laundering in the bird trade.
