Primary Cosmic Ray and Solar Protons II [PDF]

open access: yes
During July and August 1961 the energy spectrum of primary cosmic ray protons was investigated in the energy range from 80 to 350 MeV. The observations were made in five high altitude balloon flights at geomagnetic latitudes lambda is greater than 73 ...

Causes of forbush decreases and other cosmic ray variations [PDF]

open access: yes
The relationship between neutron monitor variations and the intensity variations of the interplanetary magnetic field is studied, using Deep River data and IMP-series satellite data.

Forbush Decrease Data with a Simple Model

open access: yes, 2006
On October 28, 2003 an earthward-directed coronal mass ejection (CME) was observed from SOHO/LASCO imagery in conjunction with an X17 solar flare. The CME, traveling at nearly 2000 km/s, impacted the Earth on October 29, 2003 causing ground-based particle detectors to register a counting rate drop known as a Forbush decrease.

Anomalous short-term increases in the galactic cosmic ray intensity: Are they related to the interplanetary magnetic cloud-like structures? [PDF]

open access: yes
Thirty-one short-term increases (time duration 24 hours and amplitude up to 5%) in the galactic cosmic ray intensity, occurring inside Forbush decreases events, have been identified over the period 1966 - 1977. These increases are highly anisotropic and

The flare origin of Forbush decreases not associated with solar flares on the visible hemisphere of the Sun [PDF]

open access: yes
Investigations have shown that Forbush decreases (Fds) are produced by the propagation into the interplanetary space of a strong perturbation originating from a solar flare (Sf) accompanied by Type IV radioemission.

Cosmic ray modulation and turbulent interaction regions near 11 AU [PDF]

open access: yes
When Voyager 2 was near 11 AU, the counting rate of nuclei approx 75 MeV/nucleon decreased during the interval from July, 1982 to November, 1982, and it increased thereafter until August, 1983.
