A Study of Forbush Effect During Halloween Storm
Iranian Journal of Science and Technology, Transactions A: Science, 2016Theoretically, Forbush effect is highly connected to solar activity. Persistent presence of solar wind, magnetic storms and any types of solar flares with or without coronal mass ejections cause the occurrence of Forbush effect as cosmic ray’s flux. In this work by using some data from OMNIWEB and Izmiran observatory, we explore the relation between ...

Relationship between Forbush effect parameters and the heliolongitude of solar sources
Geomagnetism and Aeronomy, 2013All significant events in galactic cosmic rays for the last 55 years have been collected in a Forbush effect database created at the Pushkov Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, Ionosphere, and Radiowave Propagation (hereinafter, IZMIRAN) based on data from the global network of neutron monitors.

The effect of Forbush decreases on tropospheric parameters over South Pole
Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics, 2002Abstract Egorova et al. (2000) conclude that Forbush decreases (FDs) in galactic cosmic rays have a significant effect on the atmosphere at Antarctic station Vostok (78.5°S, 106.9°E) via the mechanism of electrofreezing. We present the results of a similar study at South Pole (90.0°S), located ∼1000 km from Vostok, which has been conducted ...

Peculiarities of galactic cosmic ray Forbush effects during October–November 2003
Advances in Space Research, 2005Abstract Features of two successive Forbush effects of the galactic cosmic ray intensity in October–November 2003 have been studied based on the neutron monitors data. The rigidity spectrum of the galactic cosmic ray intensity in the course of the first Forbush effect (22–27 October) is gradually hardening, while the rigidity spectrum of the second ...

Piston shock and Forbush effect
Astronomy Letters, 2009A model of a piston shock produced by a sharp jump in the velocity of the solar wind with a helical magnetic field is suggested to explain the origin of the Forbush decrease of cosmic rays with a hard energy spectrum at solar activity minimum and, in some cases, at solar activity maximum.

Size Distribution of Forbush Effects
Geomagnetism and Aeronomy, 2018The distribution of Forbush effect magnitude for cosmic rays with a rigidity of 10 GV observed in 1957–2016 is studied based on a large amount of experimental data from the IZMIRAN database of Forbush effects and interplanetary disturbances. It is demonstrated that the distribution for sufficiently strong Forbush effects follows a power law with an ...

Schumann resonance amplitude during the Forbush effect
Geomagnetism and Aeronomy, 2008The time variations in the galactic cosmic ray (GCR) intensity at Apatity stations have been compared to the amplitude of the first Schumann resonance (as an indicator of the global thunderstorm activity power) for 12 cases of Forbush decreases in GCRs.
