Size Distribution of Forbush Effects
Geomagnetism and Aeronomy, 2018The distribution of Forbush effect magnitude for cosmic rays with a rigidity of 10 GV observed in 1957–2016 is studied based on a large amount of experimental data from the IZMIRAN database of Forbush effects and interplanetary disturbances. It is demonstrated that the distribution for sufficiently strong Forbush effects follows a power law with an ...

Forbush effects with a sudden and gradual onset
Geomagnetism and Aeronomy, 2012For a comprehensive study of the Forbush effects and their relation to solar and geomagnetic activity, a database of transient phenomena in cosmic rays and the interplanetary medium has been created, which is continuously updated with data on new events.

Specific features of the rigidity spectrum of Forbush effects
Geomagnetism and Aeronomy, 2017We analyze variations in the rigidity spectrum of primary cosmic rays during Forbush effects recorded in cycles 20–24 of solar activity on the basis of data from the global network of neutron monitor stations processed by global survey. We investigate variations in the rigidity spectrum index of Forbush effects as a function of the solar activity level,

Connection of Forbush effects to the X-ray flares
Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics, 2008Abstract Statistical analysis of data over a long period (1975–2005) shows that the magnitude and other characteristics of Forbush effects (for cosmic rays of 10 GV) are correlated with the power and longitude of the associated solar flares. These relations were obtained by using long-term observations of X-ray flares onboard GOES satellites, solar ...

A Study of Forbush Effect During Halloween Storm
Iranian Journal of Science and Technology, Transactions A: Science, 2016Theoretically, Forbush effect is highly connected to solar activity. Persistent presence of solar wind, magnetic storms and any types of solar flares with or without coronal mass ejections cause the occurrence of Forbush effect as cosmic ray’s flux. In this work by using some data from OMNIWEB and Izmiran observatory, we explore the relation between ...

The effect of gradient and curvature drifts on Forbush decreases
Solar Physics, 1996The average profile of Forbush decreases, produced by eastern-, central- and western-region solar flares is obtained separately by superposed epoch analysis for the periods 1966–1969 (qA 0). It is observed that the recovery of an average Forbush decrease from the maximum depression level is faster for the situation qA > 0 than for the situation qA ...

Schumann resonance amplitude during the Forbush effect
Geomagnetism and Aeronomy, 2008The time variations in the galactic cosmic ray (GCR) intensity at Apatity stations have been compared to the amplitude of the first Schumann resonance (as an indicator of the global thunderstorm activity power) for 12 cases of Forbush decreases in GCRs.

Vector anisotropy of cosmic rays in the beginning of Forbush effects
Geomagnetism and Aeronomy, 2017We consider the behavior of anisotropy and density of galactic cosmic rays in the first hours of Forbush effects from 1957 to 2014 initiated by the arrival of a shock wave. It has been shown that, as early as the event commencement, the first harmonic of anisotropy tends to increase substantially and its direction changes significantly.

DATABASE OF INTERPLANETARY DISTURBANCES AND FORBUSH EFFECTS
Proceedings of the XVIII Conference of Young Scientists “Interaction of fields and radiation with matter”A new interface, accessible to any internet user, was developed for accessing the database of Forbush-effects and Interplanetary Disturbances (FEID). Catalogue of cosmic-ray events has been constantly worked on by the IZMIRAN group over the last decades and currently includes more than 8700 events, starting from the year 1954, with a solar source ...

Relationship between Forbush effects and X-ray flares
Bulletin of the Russian Academy of Sciences: Physics, 2007Statistical analysis of a large amount of data for three solar activity cycles (1975–2005) shows that the magnitude and other characteristics of Forbush effects are related to the intensity and longitude of previous solar flares.
