Compensation of friction and force ripples in the estimation of cutting forces by neural networks
Measurement, 2018Abstract Estimated cutting forces are usually mixed up with disturbing forces such as friction and need to be compensated. In common compensation methods, such forces are firstly recorded along machining contours under air-cutting conditions. Then, recorded disturbing forces are recalled for the compensation during the main machining process.

2018 IEEE 27th International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE), 2018
Switched reluctance motors (SRMs) are promising for propulsion motors of electric vehicles (EVs) because of their robust mechanical construction and cost effectiveness. However, practical application of SRMs to vehicular propulsion is hindered by comparatively large torque ripple and radial force ripple, which cause noise vibration and acoustic noise ...

Vibrational Forces in Salient Pole Synchronous Machines Considering Tooth Ripple Effects
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2012In rotating electrical machines, the air-gap magnetic field causes radial forces on the stator core physically based on the Maxwell stress. These radial force waves do not contribute to the torque generation of the machine but may lead to dangerous vibrations.

Main-flux pulsations and tangential tooth-ripple forces in induction motors
Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1975An accurate method for the determination of the pulsations in the main flux in induction-motor teeth, due to relative motion of the slotted boundaries, is given. It is shown that tangential-force harmonics are associated with this changing flux, and equations are derived expressing their relation with the defining dimensions.

Unbalanced magnetic force mitigation and torque ripple minimization in eccentric SRMs
The 5th Annual International Power Electronics, Drive Systems and Technologies Conference (PEDSTC 2014), 2014In this paper a comprehensive method is introduced to redress Eccentricity Faults consequences. Two main effects of EFs include considerable increase in Unbalanced Magnetic Force (UMF) and torque ripple. Dependency of UMF and torque ripple on EF level is shown and the possibility of compensating them via controlling currents in facing poles is proved ...

Current Compensation Control Strategy for Reduction Normal Force Ripple of PMLSM
Advanced Materials Research, 2012The ripple normal force of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) can directly deteriorate the machining accuracy of ultra-precision CNC machine tool which use linear motor direct drive. First, the normal force of PMLSM was calculated using finite element method (FEM) .then, id current compensate lookup table was established by indexing iq ...

Observer-Based Ripple Force Compensation for Linear Hybrid Stepping Motor Drives
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2007This paper describes our research on a force ripple compensation and closed-loop position control scheme using linear hybrid stepping motors (LHSMs) with significant thrust vibrations. In order to estimate unobservable force ripple components, we propose the Jacobian linearization observer that guarantees the convergence of state estimates into true ...

Casimir Force from VEQF Ripple Dynamics
The Vacuum Energy Quanta Field (VEQF) framework models the Casimir force as a consequence of transactional ripple suppression between conducting plates, arising from boundary constraints on the VEQF lattice, rather than virtual particle fluctuations or zero-point energy.openaire +1 more source

Adaptive force ripple suppression in iron-core permanent magnet linear motors
Proceedings of the IEEE Internatinal Symposium on Intelligent Control, 2003This paper presents the design and realization of an adaptive dither to reduce the force ripple in an iron-core permanent magnet linear motor (PMLM). A composite control structure is used, consisting of three components: a simple feedforward component, a PID feedback component and an adaptive feedforward compensator (AFC).
